Job description

Civic Marketplace is proving the thesis: public procurement is broken, and we’ve built the rails to fix it. Cities are signing up, co-ops are on board, and revenue is flowing.

Now we’re looking for a Product Manager who can help us scale smartly – someone who’s hypothesis-driven, obsessed with funnels, and not afraid to do things that don’t scale.

You’ll drive the roadmap, use data to inform product decisions, and be accountable for outcomes – not just outputs. You’ll collaborate across the stack (engineering, design, marketing, and sales) and play a critical role in helping Civic Marketplace grow in the right direction.

Why Civic Marketplace?
  • Mission-Driven & Ambitious – Help modernize how the public sector buys, sells, and innovates.

  • Customer-Obsessed – We test, we learn, and we adapt quickly to real-world needs.

  • Fast-Moving, High Ownership – You’ll shape strategy, execution, and what success looks like.

Role & Responsibilities

1. Product Strategy & Execution

  • Drive the product roadmap – setting clear success criteria for each idea and making prioritisation calls grounded in real data where possible.

  • Use hypothesis-driven development to validate ideas quickly and build the right things, not just more things.

  • Define and obsess over key funnel metrics – especially activation – and roll up your sleeves to fix weak points, even with scrappy, manual solutions.

  • Collaborate with engineers and designers to ship features fast, while maintaining quality.

  • Partner with marketing and commercial teams to shape GTM plans, sharpen messaging, and close the loop on customer feedback.

  • Make good decisions using both product analytics (Algolia, PostHog, etc.) and real user conversations.

2. Outcome Ownership

  • Keep us focused on impact, not just delivery – you’ll be accountable for setting OKRs and driving real results (e.g. engagement, conversion, activation), not just releasing features.

  • Communicate progress and risks clearly (and regularly) to peers – no surprises.

  • Be the connective tissue between product, engineering, and commercial, helping the whole company stay aligned and focused.

Who You Are
  • A builder who’s worked on early-stage products, is comfortable being the first of their role in the organisation and knows what scrappy-but-smart looks like.

  • Experienced in hypothesis-led development and creating success metrics that go beyond vanity KPIs.

  • A strong communicator who knows how to align teams around clear goals and get buy-in quickly.

  • Product-analytics fluent – you can self-serve insights and know what to measure and when.

  • Comfortable collaborating on go-to-market and marketing – you understand how product and positioning go hand in hand.

  • Not afraid of ambiguity or steep learning curves – you bring structure, energy, and clarity.

  • Bonus: you’ve worked in B2B SaaS, marketplaces, or public sector tech.

What We Offer
  • Competitive salary (£70k-£110k) + meaningful equity in a company with real traction.

  • The chance to shape a category-defining product in a massive underserved market.

  • A mission-driven, fast-moving team with room to grow as we scale.

  • We’re a remote first company, focused on the US market for now, but are looking for someone who is London based, or willing to relocate.
