Job description

This job is brought to you by Jobs/Redefined, the UK's leading over-50s age inclusive jobs board.

About Rated People

At Rated People, we're proud to be the UK's leading online marketplace connecting homeowners with skilled local tradespeople. With more than 10,000 tradespeople across the country covering 200+ trades, we make it easy for homeowners to find trusted professionals-and for tradespeople to grow their reputation and business.

We've been doing this for almost 20 years, and 95% of work booked through our platform is rated 4 stars or higher. We're all about building trust, streamlining the process, and helping both sides get the job done right.

Why This Role Matters

We're looking for a hands-on, adaptable Product Manager to join us on a fixed-term basis to cover a 9 month parental leave. You'll play a pivotal role in delivering meaningful improvements to our digital products, working directly with our leadership team-including the CEO, CTO, and Head of Sales.

This is an exciting chance to make real impact: you'll lead product work across the full lifecycle, from shaping strategy and understanding customer needs to collaborating closely with engineers, designers, marketers, and more. Very quickly, you'll make the experience better for both tradespeople and homeowners alike.

What You'll Be Working On

You'll work on product initiatives that focus on:

  • Empowering tradespeople to win more work and build their brand
  • Improving the homeowner experience from posting a job to leaving a review
  • Enhancing internal workflows and tooling to support growth

Your Key Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Discovery

  • Define and communicate a clear product vision that aligns with business goals
  • Translate insights into well-prioritised user stories and deliverable roadmaps
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to validate ideas and uncover new opportunities

Analysis & Insight

  • Use data and research to inform decisions, assess product performance, and highlight opportunities
  • Document key workflows and design processes that support clarity across teams

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Do great talking and great listening. Be the bridge between commercial, marketing, tech, and support teams
  • Lead roadmap discussions and updates with transparency and a solutions mindset
  • Champion user needs and align stakeholders around key decisions

Agile Delivery

  • Lead sprints and ceremonies, manage backlogs, and help unblock delivery teams
  • Keep everyone aligned through reporting, tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence), and regular check-ins
  • Work hand-in-hand with engineering and QA to deliver quality, on time

What We're Looking For

Essential Experiences

  • Proven track record as a Product Manager (including end-to-end product delivery)
  • Strong grasp of Agile methodologies and digital product development
  • Experience writing detailed specs and collaborating with technical teams
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Proficiency in tools like Jira, Confluence, and analytics platforms

Bonus Points

  • Experience in marketplace platforms
  • Familiarity with Salesforce or Singlestore
  • Experience working with external partners like marketing or branding agencies

What We Offer

  • Hybrid working (2 days per week in our Shoreditch office)
  • 25 days holiday
  • A welcoming, inclusive culture with team socials and regular events
  • Private medical insurance (including mental health and virtual GP)
  • Enhanced parental leave
  • Cycle to work scheme, life assurance, travel loans
  • Office perks like fresh fruit, coffee, snacks, and more
