Job summary

TrueNorth® is seeking an experienced SFIA 5 Product Manager for a major central government digital transformation programme. Hybrid role with travel to Leeds every sprint and BPSS clearance required.

The role leads a digital product through its lifecycle in a large-scale Agile environment, coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders to deliver outcomes in line with government standards.

Qualifications

• Must have SFIA 5 level experience as Product Manager in UK Government context.
• Experience delivering digital products/services within central government.
• Knowledge of Agile, Scrum and GDS Service Manual in a government context.

Responsibilities

• Own and manage the product roadmap, vision and backlog, balancing user needs, business objectives and technical constraints.
• Lead product discovery and delivery with User Researchers, Designers, Developers and Architects.
• Act as primary point of contact for stakeholders, managing priorities and ensuring alignment across policy, operational and digital teams.
• Define and prioritise user stories, acceptance criteria and product increments within Agile/Scrum.

Job description

Contract: Inside - Rate £430 per day including fees

Location: Hybrid - Travel to Leeds once per sprint (fortnightly)

Clearance Required: BPSS [must be eligible and willing to undergo]

Duration: Initial 6 month contract with extension potential

We are looking for an experienced SFIA Level 5 Product Manager to join a major central government digital transformation programme. This is a key product leadership role, owning a complex digital product / service through its full lifecycle within a large-scale Agile environment.

The Role - SFIA 5 Responsibilities:

• Own and manage the product roadmap, vision and backlog, balancing user needs, business objectives and technical constraints
• Lead product discovery and delivery, working closely with User Researchers, Designers, Developers, and Architects
• Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, managing competing priorities and ensuring alignment across policy, operational and digital teams
• Define and prioritise user stories, acceptance criteria and product increments within an Agile / Scrum framework
• Use data, user insight and metrics to drive product decisions and measure value / outcomes
• Manage dependencies, risks and issues across multiple teams and suppliers
• Ensure products meet GDS Service Standard and are delivered in line with Government Digital best practice
• Proven experience as a Product Manager at SFIA 5 level / Senior Product Manager level
• Strong Government experience is essential - you must have delivered digital products/services within UK Government / Public Sector
• Deep understanding of Agile product management, Scrum, Kanban and Lean principles
• Experience working with multidisciplinary agile teams in complex, large-scale environments
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication and prioritisation skills
• Experience with GOV.UK, GDS Service Manual and Agile delivery in a government context
• Experience working within a large central government department
• Experience on large-scale digital transformation or legacy-to-digital programmes
• Location: Remote with travel to Leeds once per sprint (every 2 weeks) - candidates must be able to commit to this
• Security: Must hold or be able to obtain BPSS clearance prior to start
