We believe in shipping without friction - getting great ideas out into customers' hands quickly. If you are driven by execution, high autonomy, and seeing your work go live to make a tangible customer impact, this is where you belong.

We’re open-minded when it comes to hiring, caring more about skills and attitude than very specific experience or qualifications. If you care about finding elegant solutions to difficult problems, we’d love to hear from you.

We think being good at product requires clear communication, a sense of focus, and to always challenge the conventional ways of doing things in order to create things that are genuinely good. As such we’d love to see from your CV (or indeed something else) specifically what you’ve done and what you’ve made. We want to know what you’re proud of, what you created and how you made it happen.

Role Overview

As a Product Manager, you will be able to deliver in significant feature areas within Starling’s technology community. Operating as an established individual contributor, you deliver impact through technical mastery, product leadership, and by solving complex problems.

Rather than managing rigid ticket queues or enforcing artificial deadlines, you will work embedded directly alongside engineers, product designers, and QAs in an agile, hands-on spirit to ship high-impact features quickly.

What you’ll bring:

We have a culture that is focused on making things for our customers at high speed, and so we are looking for any potential Product Managers to have the following:

  • Lots of experience defining and building great products and features for customers whilst answering all of the difficult questions that came up.
  • Be able to balance solving complex problems with fast tactical changes. You will need to be good at knowing where our time can be spent most effectively, and making high quality decisions quickly, with data where appropriate.
  • Being comfortable operating outside of your comfort zone and dealing with ambiguity.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to make the complex comprehensible.
  • Build relationships across the business and reach compromises to deliver the best outcomes possible.
  • Ability to partner seamlessly with software engineers and designers in an engineering-led culture without relying on rigid task management or proxy metrics.
How We Work
  • Ship Without Friction: We work to remove complexity in order to make ideas real and get them into customers' hands quickly.
  • Keep It Simple: We simplify processes, communicate in plain English, and choose practical momentum over rigid process.
  • Own It: We take ownership of obstacles, solve problems proactively, and focus relentlessly on delivering outcomes.
  • Do the Right Thing: We lead with integrity, making choices that ensure our product remains easy, useful, safe, and delightful.
  • Listen & Improve: We gather feedback, listen to diverse perspectives, and continuously seek ways to optimize our tools and customer experience.

You will be responsible for:

  • Helping understand customers needs and lead on the creation and updating of products big and small
  • Help explore opportunities across the product, getting stuck in to data, working on customer research and talking to lots of others right across Starling
  • Working closely with our Customer Service teams and Product QAs to make sure we maintain a high quality product and identify trends or problems
  • Ideally you’d be have experience/knowledge of banking or finance and an interest in delivering better experiences
  • Experience working on mobile applications, specifically on banking apps would be desirable but not essential
  • Someone who’s hands on, keen to learn and can deal with ambiguity
  • Someone with experience identifying the most important issues, compromising with others involved and coming up with the best solution possible
  • Have worked with tech teams before helping to get things built
