Job Description:

The Position

Are you looking for a Central regional field engineering role in which the work you do really matters?

Does a rewarding career with a progressive, innovative business that is transforming the healthcare landscape excite you?

Would you like to be part of a team that is at the forefront of delivering cutting-edge, high-impact diagnostic solutions to pathology laboratories across the UK and Ireland?

Do you have a strong interest in process innovation and change management?

Want to find out what it really means to be part of our amazing customer projects team at Roche Diagnostics:

With exciting plans for future equipment and test launches in the pipeline, you will come in at an opportune time to join a dynamic team as part of the Technical Services group focused on delivering the installation of simple to high complexity solutions for Roche Diagnostics, the world’s leading health supplier in Diagnostics equipment.

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, you will be part of a cross-functional team of experts that helps pathology labs develop innovative solutions by making testing simpler and more cost-effective. In close collaboration with the Project Managers, you will provide your engineering expertise to the installation, de-installation and relocation of high-volume, critical analysers (for Blood Science, Molecular and Tissue diagnostics solutions). Our solutions range from medium to large-sized solutions and cover key NHS, University and private service providers.

The role will be based predominately in the Central regions of the UK, but substantial travel + overnight stays will be required across the entire UK, and, less frequently, to Ireland.

Your profile:

You are an ambitious and motivated, qualified field service professional with experience of high-value capital equipment. You will be qualified to an HNC/HND level or above in electronics. A relevant science subject would also be desirable.

Ideally, you will have started your career at a component level and have progressively built up your expertise to systems level in any of these industries: biomedical engineering, industrial engineering, automation and aerospace, but to name a few.

Preferably, for the Specialist role, you will have significant field service experience in pathology practices, particularly in automated laboratory pathology systems and associated data management systems.

With proven customer service skills, you will combine a flexible approach with the positive determination to seize opportunities and resolve complex challenges through successful constructive resolutions.

You will possess a confident and collaborative working approach. As you will be leading a critical step in the customer journey, you will be capable of representing the company in a positive manner at client sites - an ambassador for Roche Services - that enhances the reputation and professionalism of Roche Diagnostics Limited. You will excel in building productive customer relationships in a complex matrix environment.

Specifically, you will be able to demonstrate the following technical skills, knowledge and attributes:

  • Big-picture thinker, able to view how our customer goals/perspectives fit into the fabric of our organisation and strategy
  • Promoter of teamwork, keeps oneself and others on target, able to lead installations on-site to a successful go-live
  • Applies strong organizational and prioritization skills, with a logical and process-driven mindset, and ability to manage personal time
  • Quick learner with innovative and continual improvement mindset
  • Experience of “on-site” customer facing engineering support
  • Proven track record of troubleshooting experience
  • Good working knowledge of electronics, electro-mechanical systems and information technology
  • Knowledge of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and web delivery tools
  • A valid driver’s license and definite rights of working in the UK are required
