Job summary

Digital Waffle, a fast-growing PropTech backed by VC, is hiring a Senior Product Engineer to build the technology powering its next growth phase. This isn’t a SaaS role; you’ll own significant backend systems and contribute to technical leadership in a high-velocity environment.

A fast-growing, VC-backed PropTech business is hiring a Senior Product Engineer to help build the technology powering its next phase of growth.

This isn't a SaaS role.

You'll be joining a business using AI to transform a traditional industry through acquisition, automation and modern software engineering. If you've built products within a high-growth scale-up and want to apply your experience somewhere with genuine commercial impact, this is an opportunity to step into a role with real ownership and a clear route into technical leadership.

Salary: Up to £100,000 + 10% bonus + equity

Location: London (Moorgate), hybrid working - 2 to 3 days per week onsite

What you'll be doing

• Design, develop and maintain scalable APIs using Python and FastAPI.
• Take ownership of services throughout their full lifecycle, from architecture through to production support.
• Work closely with Product and Engineering teams to deliver high-impact features at pace.
• Drive adoption of AI-assisted engineering workflows to improve developer productivity.
• Champion engineering quality through testing, automation and modern software development practices.
• Contribute to architectural decisions as the platform continues to scale.
• Play a key role in shaping engineering culture, with a clear pathway into technical leadership.

What you'll need

• Strong commercial experience building production backend services with Python and FastAPI.
• Experience working within fast-growth startups or scale-ups, ideally through Series A or Series B growth.
• A track record of owning significant areas of a product and delivering features end to end.
• Experience working within high-performance engineering teams that value speed, ownership and quality.
• Actively use AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor or similar as part of your day-to-day development workflow.
• Passion for improving engineering productivity through automation, tooling and agentic development practices.
• Strong understanding of API design, asynchronous Python and backend architecture.
• Experience working with SQL databases and modern data persistence layers.
• Ownership mindset with responsibility for testing, quality and production reliability.
• Interest in progressing into a Lead Engineer role as the engineering team continues to grow.
