About the Role

Premier Foods, a leading UK food company with a diverse portfolio including brands like The Spice Tailor, Sharwoods, Loyd Grossman, Homepride, and Batchelors, is seeking a Product Development Technologist to join our team in Worksop. Our ambitious growth plan aims for 10% of our turnover to come from innovation annually.

Responsibilities

1. Lead the R&D program for new product development (NPD), existing product development (EPD), and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives.
2. Coordinate scale-up development through pilot plant and factory trials with operations and technical teams.
3. Collaborate with marketing to develop new ideas and shape project directions.
4. Monitor culinary, ingredient, and consumer trends to inform product innovation.
5. Work with suppliers to develop new ingredients and product functionalities.
6. Manage documentation and processes related to projects.
7. Coordinate with sensory and marketing teams for product benchmarking and assessments.
8. Utilize internal and external capabilities to drive innovation.
9. Ensure quality standards and efficient delivery across manufacturing sites.

Qualifications & Skills

• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, especially pasteurisation/sterilisation, is advantageous.
• BSc in Food Science/Technology or related qualification; other food-related qualifications considered.
• Passion for creative, trend-based product development; culinary/chef experience is a plus.
• Self-motivated, independent, flexible, and team-oriented with problem-solving skills.
• Desirable behaviors include driving change, curiosity, ownership, and collaboration.

Additional Requirements

Occasional travel to India/Asia for research and factory trials.
