Job description

Acre is rebuilding the UK’s £1.4 trillion mortgage market from the ground up, with a completely new, end-to-end management system for mortgages.

Our platform cuts out the unnecessary admin, pain and friction from buying a home. We're covering the entire journey, from figuring out what you can borrow, to getting your keys. We're guided both by the voice of real home buyers and by our close relationships with brokers, lenders and insurers.

After a record-breaking 2023 with a 400% year-on-year increase in mortgage volume, we have continued our momentum by doubling our market share in 2024. As we go into 2025, we are continuing to onboard some huge names in the mortgage industry and are looking to expand our team.

The role:

Our products are based on a simple driving principle… B2B software should still deliver brilliant UX that everyone expects from B2C apps. Our early adopter users love us for the fact that our products are intuitive and simple to grasp, so we're always striving to take that further and deliver best in class experiences.

Our users comprise a range of roles within financial advice firms, so when we design features and experiences, we're solving a diverse set of problems and pain points for various stakeholders who'll interact with our product ecosystem. This includes all parts of a mortgage advice company through to Homebuyers.

What you’ll be doing:

As a product designer at Acre, you'll be following design solutions from end to end. Starting with working with product managers to properly define and understand problems, collaborating with the whole product team to identify opportunities that solve them, using UX best practices to design great experiences for our users and working with developers to ensure the best possible delivery of your creation.

A large part of this involves being close to users so we can design with a rich understanding of their needs in mind. This includes joining product demos and customer training to observe how both experienced and novice users get to grips with the system. Then using the feedback and insight gain to drive improvement in current designs or create new features to continually develop the experience. You should be the voice of the user in all discussions, so you need to be passionate about building empathy and a deeper understanding of them at every opportunity.

In this role you will:

  • Help to develop the UX design of our product and push our design system to deliver consistent, delightful experiences.
  • Work closely with all parts of the company including product, tech, customer success, sales, management
  • Be an advocate for the user, build empathy for them and their needs.
  • Be able to balance business needs with the needs of the user and make informed decisions and trade-offs.
  • Build, measure, learn - you'll be user testing designs and prototypes with real users and involving them in the design process to guide our design process, to ensure what we build delivers real value.
  • Design software that will help advisors guide people through the biggest, most expensive transaction of their lives, and revolutionise a £1 trillion industry (in the UK alone).

Requirements:

  • 2+ years experience designing responsive web experiences
  • 2+ years experience working in cross-discipline agile teams
  • Experience working with B2B SaaS, and high attention to detail
  • A portfolio featuring examples of product design work
  • Strong UX focus and understanding of user needs and behaviours
  • Experience working with, and maintaining, design systems
  • The ability to take ownership of the design process and work as a self-directed member of the product team
  • Confidence using Figma
  • Ability to put together quick prototypes and test with users
  • Desirable: Experience with Webflow

What we offer:

  • A chance to make an impact within a high growth fintech start-up
  • Monthly team social events, from trips to Brighton to Picnics in the park
  • One week of free accommodation for those relocating
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Opportunity to earn equity through our EMI option scheme
  • Company laptop and supporting tech
  • Private healthcare and a cash plan
  • Pension contribution matched by Acre up to 4%
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Breakfast, snacks and drinks provided in our vibrant Shoreditch office
