Product & Engineering • Reporting to VP of Product
We’re not just closing the digital divide; we’re reconnecting distributed organisations, enabling seamless communication, and re‑engaging employees like never before. Blink, a mobile‑first employee experience platform, provides everything employees need on their devices. With teams in Boston, London, and Sydney, we’re making waves worldwide and partnering with industry leaders such as Domino’s, JD Sports, and McDonald’s.
About The Role
We’re looking for a Product Designer to join our Product & Engineering organisation. You will report to the VP of Product, work embedded in a cross‑functional squad alongside a Product Manager and dedicated engineers, and collaborate with other Product Designers on shared systems, patterns, and craft standards. This role shapes product direction from discovery through delivery — speaking with real users, prototyping quickly, and crafting experiences that work beautifully on factory floors, hospital wards, or restaurant counters. We offer a hybrid life with 3 fixed days in our Old Street office and flexible remote work.
What You’ll Own
- End‑to‑End Product Design: Own the design process from early concept exploration through detailed specifications.
- User Research & Discovery: Conduct customer interviews, contextual inquiries, and usability testing to ground each design decision in real user needs.
- Design System Stewardship: Guard and contribute to Blink’s design system, ensuring consistency across mobile and web while evolving components for new product areas.
- Squad Collaboration: Act as an embedded member of a development squad, participating in sprint ceremonies, design reviews, and daily decision‑making.
- Cross‑Platform Excellence: Design mobile‑first experiences that work for frontline workers in challenging environments while also delivering polished desktop experiences for admins.
- Data‑Informed Decisions: Use qualitative and quantitative data to validate and iterate on designs, ensuring they are effective as well as beautiful.
Requirements
- 5+ years of product design experience with a strong portfolio demonstrating end‑to‑end ownership of complex products – B2B experience is a plus.
- Mobile‑first design expertise with a deep understanding of constraints and opportunities when designing for frontline, non‑desk workers.
- Research‑driven mindset: comfortable planning and running user research, synthesising findings, and advocating for users in product discussions.
- Expertise in Figma (our primary tool) with strong prototyping skills, and familiarity with Sketch and Adobe XD.
- Excellent communication skills: able to articulate design rationale to engineers, PMs, and stakeholders, present work confidently, and receive feedback constructively.
- Squad‑player mentality: thrive in a collaborative, fast‑paced squad environment and view product development as a team sport.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with front‑end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to have productive conversations with engineers.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design practices.
- Experience working in a scaling startup environment where speed must be balanced with quality.
- Systems thinking – experience designing for complex workflows without losing sight of the end‑user experience.
Benefits
- Competitive salary
- Stock options on starting and additional high‑performer grants annually
- 25 days’ leave plus public holidays
- Additional time off between Christmas and New Year
- Private healthcare with AXA
- 3% employer pension contribution when you contribute 5%
- Cycle to Work scheme
- Social events (lunches, breakfasts, nights out)
- Enhanced parental leave
