Job summary

Harnham - Data and Analytics Recruitment in Sheffield is seeking a Product Data Scientist for a hybrid role (1 day per week in Sheffield). The role focuses on turning data into actionable insights to influence product strategy and customer outcomes.

You will work across analytics, ML, and stakeholder engagement, building models, dashboards, and KPI frameworks, with exposure to Snowflake, dbt, Python, and modern BI tools.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Analyse customer and user journeys to identify trends and opportunities.

• Build customer segments and behavioural cohorts for product, marketing and customer success.
• Translate business questions into analytical approaches and actionable recommendations.
• Partner with engineering and data teams to improve data models.
• Design and maintain dashboards, reports and KPI frameworks for stakeholders.
• Communicate complex findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

The Role

You will:

• Analyse customer and user journeys to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for optimisation.
• Perform exploratory data analysis to understand product usage, engagement, and conversion behaviour.
• Develop predictive models, including churn prediction, engagement scoring, demand forecasting, and propensity modelling.
• Build customer segments and behavioural cohorts to support product, marketing, and customer success initiatives.
• Translate business questions into structured analytical approaches and actionable recommendations.
• Partner closely with engineering and data teams to define metrics and improve data models.
• Design and maintain dashboards, reports, and KPI frameworks for business stakeholders.
• Communicate complex analytical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Support the adoption of data-driven decision making across the organisation

Your Skills & Experience

• Strong commercial experience as a Data Scientist, Product Data Scientist, Product Analyst, or similar analytics professional.
• Advanced SQL skills and experience working with cloud-based data warehouse environments.
• Strong Python or R capabilities for data analysis, statistical modelling, and machine learning.
• Experience building predictive models and applying analytical techniques to solve business problems.
• Understanding of customer journey analysis, funnel optimisation, retention analysis, and customer lifetime value metrics.
• Experience creating dashboards and visualisations using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or similar.
• Ability to engage with stakeholders, gather requirements, and translate business needs into analytical solutions.
• Experience working with modern data platforms and analytics engineering environments is beneficial.
