Within Centrica Energy Finance, Product Control is the cornerstone of the control functions, ensuring the integrity of Centrica Energy’s financial statements and responsibility for the preparation and independent verification of daily, monthly and annual P&L, balance sheet reconciliation and substantiation, and valuation testing of trading inventory.

This is a position is for a highly experienced, technically strong Product Control Manager with excellent communication skills and with a proven track record as the role will have stretching goals. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to play a management role leading a team of c10 Product Controllers, leading the Product Control plan and implementation, assist in the build out of the Product Control Target Operating Model and become a key member of the team guiding the Product Control partnership with the wider Centrica Energy business.

This role reports to the Head of Finance Business Partnering & Product Control and will be based out of our London office (close to Marble Arch).

Key role accountabilities:

  • Identify areas / processes where development is required to achieve efficiency gains for Product Control

  • Work with business partners on reporting up to management and roll out of Target Operating Model

  • Oversee Daily P&L, Position and Risk reporting

  • Own trading book P&L up to Gross Margin including reconciliation up to GL

  • Management and development of members of the team

  • Carry out preparatory work on analysis for new business

  • Prepare and deliver Month End pack for Integrity Review

  • Represent the needs of Product Control in working groups and Steer Co’s

  • Be an escalation point for all Product Control related activities.

What we are looking for:

  • Extensive experience in Financial Markets with knowledge of Commodities products

  • Experience of working within a busy Trading House or Investment Banking background

  • Strong people / team management experience

  • Strong influencing skills and able to articulate to multiple stakeholders’ requirements, needs etc for Product Control to deliver on Controls and value add to the business

  • Able to communicate with senior management up to MD / CFO level within Centrica Energy and Centrica Group

  • Effective communication and sense of accountability and ownership of deliverables

  • Ability to plan and deliver processes to increase Product Control added value to key stakeholders

  • Proven track record of bringing projects to fruition

  • Strong numerical, analytical conceptual and presentation skills

  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
