Job description

We are seeking an experienced Product Assurance Manager/Engineer to join our Oxford Space Instrumentation group. The position is part of an existing team of technical specialists developing and delivering space flight components for research projects for NASA, ESA, and other space agencies. This role will lead the Product and Quality Assurance aspects of our flight-rated instrument development, working on next-generation instrumentation for lunar, Earth observation, and planetary missions.

As part of a small, dynamic team, the post holder will influence key quality aspects of current and future projects and participate in all mission development stages, from proposal to delivery. This is an open-ended position.

Key responsibilities:

  • Leading and guiding the wider team on Product Assurance and Quality Assurance (PA/QA)
  • Liaising with external customers on PA/QA matters
  • Supporting and conducting Product Assurance activities on projects
  • Contributing to PA/QA estimates for future bids
  • Line management and development of team members

The ideal candidate will have a degree or higher in Physics or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience, with a background in product assurance and quality management systems. Knowledge of ECSS or similar standards (e.g., ISO9001 applied to space work), configuration management, and experience with infrared, imaging, space instruments, vacuum, or cryogenic systems is desirable but not essential.
