Job summary

iO Associates is recruiting on behalf of a global space technology business for a Senior Product Assurance Engineer to lead assurance activities for electronic, electromechanical and optical products across the full project lifecycle.

You will collaborate with engineering teams, suppliers and customers, travel occasionally in the UK and abroad, and mentor junior PA/QA engineers while supporting proposals and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering.
• 5+ years of product assurance on ESA/NASA and commercial programs.
• Experience with electronic, electromechanical and optical systems.
• ECSS-Q-ST-10, ECSS-Q-ST-60 and ECSS-Q-ST-70 knowledge.
• ISO 9001 / AS 9100 quality systems experience.
• Strong root cause analysis and problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Manage PA work packages across projects.
• Develop Product Assurance Plans and ensure supply-chain compliance.
• Lead EEE Parts, Materials & Processes, Radiation Hardness and RAMS activities.
• Support design, manufacturing, integration and test reviews.
• Chair PDR, CDR, SRR, MRR, TRB and customer/supplier reviews.
• Prepare EIDPs and PA documentation (QSL, CIL, CIDL).
• Lead non-conformance, critical item and change-control processes.
• Review processes, drawings, procedures, test data and inspection records.
• Support QMS activities, audits and continuous improvement.
• Act as the PA focal point for customers, suppliers and subcontractors.
• Promote quality best practices and mentor junior PA/QA Engineers.
• Support Business Development with proposals.

Role Overview

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a relevant engineering discipline.
• 5+ years’ Product Assurance experience across ESA/NASA and commercial programmes.
• Experience with electronic, electromechanical and optical systems.
• Strong knowledge of EEE Parts, Materials & Processes, Radiation Hardness and RAMS.
• Full lifecycle experience on ESA/NASA missions.
• Strong technical documentation skills.
• Knowledge of ECSS-Q-ST-10, ECSS-Q-ST-60 and ECSS-Q-ST-70.
• Experience with ISO 9001 / AS 9100 quality systems.
• Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving experience.

Nice to Have

• Supplier Quality Management experience.
• Knowledge of NASA, IPC, JEDEC and MIL-STD standards.
• Satellite, payload, robotics, optical or ground support equipment experience.
• Electronic units, PCB, digital communications or IC experience.
• Manufacturing process knowledge including soldering, coating, bonding or plating.
• Harness design and fabrication experience.
