Job summary

General Index Limited, based in London, is seeking a Product Analyst to study how customers use GX products and turn that data into insights, metrics and recommendations that shape product and commercial decisions. You will analyse usage data, build dashboards, and partner with Analytics leadership to define success metrics for new features and initiatives, tracking performance post-launch.

The role includes research and cross‑functional collaboration to improve the customer experience.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years in a business/data/product analytics role
• Proficient in SQL and able to analyse large datasets
• Experience with BI tools such as Tableau, Looker, or Power BI is a plus

Responsibilities

• Analyse product usage data and user behaviour to generate actionable insights
• Build and maintain dashboards, reports, and data models for visibility of KPIs
• Partner with VP, Analytics to define success metrics and track post-launch performance
• Conduct quantitative and qualitative research (interviews, surveys) to identify friction points
• Collaborate with Data and Engineering to ensure analytics infrastructure is robust
• Translate complex data into clear narratives for both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Support Commercial with data-driven insights for pricing, conversations, and market positioning
• Identify opportunities for new features based on market trends and client feedback
• Develop and integrate AI into daily workflows to optimise efficiencies

General Index is looking for a Product Analyst to study how customers use GX products and turn that data into insights, metrics and recommendations that shape product and commercial decisions.

About The Role

• Analyse product usage data and user behaviour across GX's product suite to generate actionable insights that drive product decisions and improve customer experience


• Build and maintain dashboards, reports, and data models that give the Product and Commercial teams clear visibility of key performance metrics


• Partner closely with VP, Analytics to define success metrics for new features and initiatives, and track performance post-launch


• Conduct quantitative and qualitative research – including customer interviews, surveys, and data analysis – to identify friction points and opportunities in GX's product


• Work with the Data and Engineering teams to ensure product analytics infrastructure is robust, reliable, and scalable


• Translate complex data into clear narratives and recommendations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders


• Support the Commercial team with data-driven insights to underpin client conversations, pricing strategy, and market positioning


• Identify opportunities for new product features or enhancements to existing indexes based on market trends and client feedback


• Develop and integrate AI into daily workflows to optimise efficiencies

About You

• 2-5 years in a business analyst, data analyst, or product analyst role, ideally in a B2B SaaS or data-driven environment


• Demonstrable experience in product analytics, business intelligence, or a data analyst role, ideally in a fast‑paced technology or financial data environment


• Proficient in SQL and comfortable working with large datasets; experience with BI tools such as Tableau, Looker, or Power BI is a plus


• Strong numerical ability and a structured, hypothesis‑driven approach to problem solving


• Accuracy and attention to detail are exceptional


• Clear communicator with the confidence to present data‑driven insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders


• Commercially minded with an interest in commodity markets and financial data


• Collaborative by nature, able to work across Product, Engineering, Commercial, and Pricing teams


• Committed to consistently demonstrating professionalism with colleagues, customers, and the public to positively represent GX
