Producer/Director

Description

Countryfile, BBC One’s flagship factual series, is seeking an experienced Rural Affairs Investigations Producer Director with a passion for storytelling and strong journalistic instincts.

Every week, Countryfile leads the rural affairs television agenda in the UK, exploring stories that matter deeply to its audience.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Directing visually engaging stories in a fast-paced environment
  2. Writing scripts and self-shooting on location
  3. Managing teams on location and overseeing researchers during pre-production
  4. Collaborating with the Investigations Producer to deliver 12-15 investigations annually, including fast-turnaround reactive films
  5. Owning stories from concept to offline edit

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven journalistic skills and experience in factual/current affairs programming
  • Storytelling flair and visual creativity
  • Strong scriptwriting and directing experience
  • Understanding of media law and BBC Editorial Guidelines
  • Knowledge of rural issues and the Countryfile audience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple stories and meet tight deadlines
  • Organizational skills for scheduling and logistics
  • Resilience, sensitivity, and a collaborative mindset
  • Experience working with high-profile presenters
  • Self-shooting capability
  • Familiarity with the UK’s rural landscape and stakeholders

  • Location: Bristol / Hybrid
  • Start Date: 11th August, initially for 3 months
