A recruitment agency in the UK is seeking a Procurement Specialist to support supply-related activities in Peterlee. This role involves ensuring excellence in procurement functions, analyzing data for decision-making, and collaborating with suppliers to resolve issues. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, experience in supply chain management, and familiarity with SAP. This position offers a pay rate of £20-£26 per hour with a 12-month contract.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for to join our client in Peterlee, as a Procurement Specialist. In this role you will play a crucial role in supporting supply-related activities for our clients facility, ensuring excellence and integration between the procurement function and the teams it supports.
Location: Peterlee, UK
Pay Rate: £20-£26 per hour
Hours: 36.5 per week (07:30-16:00 Monday-Thursday, 07:20-12:00 Friday)
Contract: 12 months
The Role
Key responsibilities include:
Supporting the delivery of a lean, responsive, and resilient flow of materials and services for the facility.
Recognising the potential for cost and inventory reductions and quality improvements.
Assessing the soundness of business proposals and risks, and working with internal teams to deliver on them.
Operating and monitoring the supply network's procurement functions to meet defined targets for response time, cost, and quality.
Collaborating with business partners and suppliers to resolve facility-specific supplier issues.
About You
The ideal candidate will be a skilled professional with a strong aptitude for data-driven decision-making and analytical thinking. You will be adept at distinguishing valuable insights from data and will be instrumental in selecting key performance indicators to guide decisions.
Skills for this role include:
Experience in applying techniques for data-driven thinking, as well as identifying, obtaining, and organising relevant data.
A methodical approach to problem-solving, defining issues, and making systematic comparisons of alternative solutions.
The ability to help develop material requirements, analyse orders, and use scheduling and inventory systems to provide realistic delivery dates.
The ability to carry out routine supplier management tasks, resolve common issues, and work with suppliers to ensure purchases meet delivery and quality specifications.
Experience participating in supply chain analysis to spot trends and opportunities for improvement.
Experience with SAP/MACH1
