Job summary

A global engineering firm in Peterlee is seeking a Procurement Specialist to enhance procurement activities. The role involves collaborating with suppliers and optimizing material flow. Candidates should have direct material procurement experience, preferably in manufacturing or engineering. This position has an hourly rate of up to £27.23 PAYE or £35.77 Umbrella, with on-site work hours from 07:30-16:00 Monday-Thursday and 07:20-12:00 Friday.

Qualifications

  • Proven track record in material procurement.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Familiarity with SAP and ETQ systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support supply related activities for facility operations.
  • Work on cost and inventory reduction initiatives.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to resolve facility-specific issues.

About the Role:

  • As a Procurement Specialist, you will support supply related activities for a facility to deliver excellence and integration between procurement and the team supporting facility.
  • Supporting delivery of a lean, responsive, and resilient material and services flow for the facility from source to dock and additional required points.
  • Recognising the potential for cost and inventory reductions, and quality improvement, as well as responsibility for soundness of business proposals and risk assessment and then work with the correct internal teams to deliver.
  • Operating and monitoring the supply network procurement functions to meet the defined response time, cost, quality, and lean targets enabling optimal and efficient facility operations.
  • Collaborating with business partners and suppliers and resolving facility specific supplier issues.

  • Direct material procurement experience
  • Experience from within a manufacturing or engineering background
  • SAP experience - desirable
  • ETQ system experience - desirable
