Job summary

National Grid is seeking an experienced Procurement Programme Manager to lead NGED’s equipment portfolio and strategic sourcing for major infrastructure programmes in the UK. You will align supply chain strategies with business priorities and drive commercial value across lifecycle planning and delivery.

You will collaborate with Category Managers, Sourcing Leads and senior stakeholders to design go‑to‑market strategies, deliver cost forecasting, and manage supplier performance within a hybrid

Qualifications

• Significant experience in end-to-end procurement, supply chain programme management or major project delivery.
• Strong understanding of strategic sourcing, commercial strategy and supply chain management within complex infrastructure or regulated environments.
• Experience developing procurement and supply chain strategies for large investment programmes.
• Strong financial and commercial acumen, including cost modelling, forecasting and budget management.

Responsibilities

• Leading procurement and supply chain strategies for major equipment and infrastructure programmes across NGED.
• Translating business demand into robust procurement plans, forecasting models and long‑term supply strategies.
• Partnering with business leaders to understand investment programmes and develop sourcing approaches that balance value, risk and security of supply.
• Defining programme delivery models, commercial structures and go‑to‑market strategies for large-scale procurement activities.
• Working with Category Managers and Sourcing teams to develop and execute strategic sourcing events and contract awards.
• Providing procurement input into programme sanctioning, business case development and cost forecasting activities.
• Driving successful programme execution through supplier coordination, contract performance management and stakeholder engagement.
• Identifying and mitigating supply chain, commercial and delivery risks with clear recommendations to senior stakeholders.
• Leading supplier engagement activities and building partnerships that support innovation and long‑term value creation.
• Capturing lessons learned and embedding continuous improvement across procurement and business teams.
• Developing high‑performing teams and fostering a collaborative 'One Team' approach across Procurement and the wider business.
