Job Description:

Strategic Procurement Manager - Direct & Indirect | £70,000 + 10% Bonus | £Multi-Billion Manufacturing, Industrial & Engineering Powerhouse | Manchester / Lancashire Area (Hybrid)

If you're a commercially savvy procurement professional with a background in engineering, manufacturing or industrial sectors, and are looking to broaden your impact across both Direct and Indirect spend, this is an outstanding opportunity to join a global industry leader undergoing significant transformation.

My client is a £multi-billion turnover energy and engineering firm with a long-standing reputation for excellence. As part of a wider procurement transformation journey, they are now seeking a Procurement Manager to manage a high-impact portfolio that includes critical Direct categories (e.g. gas cylinders, valves, pumps, industrial equipment, engineering parts) and diverse Indirect categories (e.g. FM, MRO, PPE, Security, Travel, Uniforms, Subcontractors etc…).

This role offers a fantastic mix of strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, and stakeholder engagement, giving you a platform to directly influence procurement outcomes and shape the function's future.

Key Responsibilities | Strategic Procurement Manager - Direct & Indirect:

  • Shape and execute sourcing strategies across both Direct and Indirect categories in line with company transformation goals.
  • Drive end-to-end procurement processes, supplier negotiations, and cross-functional alignment.
  • Achieve cost savings, reduce risk, and enhance supply chain value.
  • Own supplier relationship management, including performance tracking and contract optimisation.
  • Advise senior stakeholders and act as a strategic partner for procurement-related decisions and escalations.

What You'll Bring | Strategic Procurement Manager - Direct & Indirect:

  • Strong experience across Direct and/or Indirect Procurement (preferably a blend), ideally within sectors like Energy, Chemicals, Pharma, Aerospace, Automotive, Manufacturing, or Engineering.
  • Deep understanding of commercial drivers and supply market dynamics, with a track record of achieving cost and performance improvements.
  • CIPS/MCIPS qualified (or working towards), with a relevant degree or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience operating in complex or matrixed organisations.
  • Analytical mindset with sound judgement on contract risk and value drivers.

This is a high-visibility role in a fast-evolving environment that values innovation and continuous improvement. You'll play a pivotal role in moving the procurement function toward best-in-class while accelerating your own development within a globally respected organisation.
