Job description

Location: Uddingston

At Emtec Building Services, part of the Sauter Group, we deliver technically complex M&E projects across the UK — but it’s our people and culture that really make the difference.

We’re looking for a Buyer / Procurement Manager to join our team in Uddingston. This is a hands-on role where you’ll work closely with Contracts Managers, Quantity Surveyors, and Site Teams to ensure materials and plant are sourced on time, on budget, and in line with project needs.

You’ll play a key part in keeping projects running smoothly. You'll be securing urgent plant hire to planning ahead for major projects, always looking for value through smart sourcing and strong supplier relationships.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Procuring materials, plant, and services to meet project timescales and budgets
  • Supporting delivery teams by aligning procurement with programme demands
  • Developing strong, reliable relationships with suppliers and subcontractors
  • Tracking procurement activity and flagging any delivery or quality issues
  • Stepping in to resolve urgent site procurement or delivery challenges
  • Exploring smarter ways to source, through bulk buys, performance-based deals, or innovation
  • Ensuring compliance with Group policies, approvals, and audit controls
  • Collaborating with Off-Site Manufacturing and other Group businesses to add value across the board

What We’re Looking For

You’ll be someone who thrives under pressure, stays organised, and builds strong working relationships, both inside and outside the business. You’ll be hands-on, solution-focused, and comfortable juggling multiple priorities across live projects.

Essential

  • Proven experience in construction or M&E procurement
  • Strong commercial instincts and confident negotiation skills
  • Experience with site-based buying and plant/material procurement
  • Excellent communication and organisation
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Dynamics NAV

It would be great if you have

  • Previous experience within an M&E contractor or building services environment
  • An understanding of subcontract procurement principles

Our Benefits

  • Competitive Salary package: Based on experience
  • Holidays: 33 days of holiday (inclusive of public holidays) which increases with length of service
  • Holiday Purchase Scheme: Additional flexibility to suit your needs
  • Contributory Pension Scheme: Secure your future with our contributory pension plan
  • Life Assurance: Peace of mind for you and your family
  • Development Opportunities: Excellent training and support for career growth
  • Wellness Support: Access to our Employee Assistance Programme and wellness portal
  • Exclusive Discounts: Benefit from our Employee Discounts Platform
  • Convenience: Free parking at our offices and a cycle scheme.

In return, you’ll become part of a dedicated and passionate team that values and rewards commitment and success. If this feels like the right opportunity for you, we’d love to hear from you – apply today!
