A leading recruitment agency is seeking a Procurement Manager for a temporary role in Woking. The ideal candidate will have experience in Social Housing within a Local Government Setting and a solid track record in procurement management. Responsibilities include managing procurement processes and supporting the Corporate Procurement Board. Flexible working is available, and the role requires office presence at least one day a week.
We are currently working in partnership with a Local Authority who are recruiting for a Procurement Manager on a temporary contract, initially for 6 months with opportunity.
The position is due to start within the month and the day rate of pay is negotiable based on experience.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Procurement Specialist with experience working at a Housing Association or at a Local Authority within the Housing sector.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
* Manage end-to-end procurement processes, supporting service areas in developing clear and robust specifications for inclusion in tender documentation
* Work closely with the Head of Housing to procure approximately 17 housing-related contracts, including services such as Gas, Voids and Cleaning
* Assist in the development and implementation of procurement and contract management control systems, along with innovative reporting tools
* Review expiring contracts and collaborate with service managers to complete procurement templates and draft accurate specifications
* Manage the e-tendering process, including uploading documentation and ensuring accurate coding of procurement activities
* Carry out administrative tasks such as preparing award notification forms and maintaining the contracts register
* Analyse spend data against award outcomes to ensure compliance with procurement policies and procedures
* Support the effective operation of the Council’s Corporate Procurement Board
Experience required:
* Experience required in Social Housing / Housing within a Local Government Setting
Skills, knowledge and expertise required:
* Strong understanding of local government operations, including relevant policies, procedures and legislation - particularly within a housing context
* Proven track record of successfully leading multiple, complex procurement projects using recognised methodologies, ideally within a matrix or cross-functional environment
* Demonstrated experience in effective contract management, with the ability to build and maintain productive relationships with suppliers and service providers
