Job summary

MBDA UK seeks a skilled professional to manage supplier subcontracts across the life cycle of missiles and systems. You will lead negotiations, oversee amendments, and ensure timely delivery with quality and cost control, working with UK and international suppliers.

You will feed commercial guidance to internal customers, manage risks, and support MBDA’s Defence capabilities. The role requires collaboration within a multi-functional team and mobility to visit supplier sites as required.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Procurement or Supply Chain role, ideally in Defence or Aerospace contracting.
• Negotiation experience in a customer/supplier environment.
• Educational or professional accreditation in procurement or supply chain.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and execute subcontracts with suppliers or via tendering.
• Oversee subcontract amendments to ensure compliance with contracting standards.
• Conduct supplier performance management and risk assessments.
• Develop strong supplier relationships across UK, Europe and worldwide.
• Visit supplier sites and chair progress meetings as needed.
• Identify commercial risks and opportunities to protect MBDA interests.

Job description

Are you passionate about executing and managing critical and complex Supplier subcontracts and relationships? Do you have experience of working collaboratively with UK and/or International Suppliers whilst protecting your Employer’s commercial position? If yes, please read on:

Salary: Up to £50,000 - depending on experience and qualifications.
Dynamic (hybrid) working: Up to 3 days per week will be expected to be undertaken on-site due to workload classification – especially during the initial 6-months to integrate with the MBDA Team.
Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship. Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum, and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

Working within Project Procurement team, you will work with our Suppliers around the world and enable MBDA to provide world-leading defence capabilities for our Home Nations and their Allies. You will lead the preparation, negotiation, implementation and performance of subcontracts across the entire life cycle of missiles and missile systems. You will ensure that subcontracts are effectively managed to time, cost, and quality resulting in the delivery of high value and sophisticated sub-systems. You will need to provide commercial guidance to internal Customers and manage risk and opportunity to safeguard the interests of MBDA. Key activities on a day-to-day basis can vary between individual roles, but expected activities you are likely to complete:

• Preparation and execution of subcontracts, either with existing Suppliers or as a result of running competitive tendering activities.
• Oversee subcontract amendments to ensure they remain topical and in compliance with latest contracting standards and legislation.
• Undertaking performance management activities to ensure that Suppliers deliver in line with subcontract obligations.
• As part of a MBDA multi-functional team, develop and nurture strong Supplier relationships with Suppliers within the UK, Europe and the rest of the world.
• Regularly visit Supplier premises, whether that be in the UK, Europe or Worldwide as part of your role, carrying out Supplier assessments, chairing subcontract progress meetings or ad-hoc sessions.
• Identify and mitigate commercial and business risks relating to the Suppliers which you are responsible for.
• Obtain quotations and other critical intelligence from Suppliers which enable MBDA to bid for new business opportunities.

What we’re looking for from you:

MBDA’s Project Procurement personnel provide a collaborative, team-focused environment where multitasking is a key skill. This is a really key role, orchestrating the MBDA internal multi-functional team as well as the Supplier, so MBDA need proactive and dedicated people who can help us be successful by taking requirements and problem solving with tangible solutions. There will be ample opportunities for you to develop within the MEP team, whether that be on-the-job or through MBDA’s excellent career development and training facilities, and across the wider Procurement business.

Experience and Qualifications:

• Experience in a Procurement or Supply Chain related role, ideally in a Defence or Aerospace contracting environment.
• Ideally degree qualified in a business discipline, relevant procurement or supply chain accreditation (e.g. CIPS) or equivalent experience.
• Experienced in: Negotiation in a Customer/ Supplier environment, Bidding to win against a context of global supply chains and contract conditions.
