Castlefield Recruitment are delighted to be partnering with Resilience Multi Academy Trust (RMAT) on their search to recruit a Procurement Manager. RMAT is an educational Trust, encompassing four secondary academies, a primary academy, an alternative provision independent school, and a University Technical College (UTC), all proudly located in West and North Yorkshire.

RMAT started by supporting schools across Yorkshire, and through their unique approach were successful in transforming academies and raising the bar for student achievement. The Trust was formed to generate social mobility and empower children and young people to achieve their dreams.

The Procurement Manager role would suit an individual who is looking for a career opportunity which will create value in a school setting and genuinely impact positively on young lives. The Procurement Manager will have full autonomy to help shape and drive efficiencies across the Trust, leading on all tenders and large contracts ensuring a compliant and robust process.

The Role

  • Work closely with the Trust Executive to provide specialist direct support and advice to the Trust in relation to procurement issues
  • Support the Trust’s strategic goals by embedding sustainability, digital transformation, and value for money principles into all procurement and contract management activities
  • Align procurement practices with the Trust’s strategic plan, including sustainability, digital innovation, and growth goals
  • Review and update the Trust procurement strategy and standard operating procedures relating to procurement
  • Lead the development and implementation of Trust-wide procurement systems with the aim of providing robust controls, maximising value and minimising bureaucracy
  • Manage procurement processes and lead procurement related projects in conjunction with the Trust’s executive team to maximise value for money
  • Maintain an understanding of the changing approaches and guidance nationally in relation to procurement, to support the Trust and its academies, contributing to wider policy developments and helping to develop best practice
  • Develop and support the finance system in conjunction with the Finance Director to support the procurement strategy
  • Provide support to Trust colleagues on contract management and renewals
  • Support colleagues to ensure the terms of contracts are fully followed and that the aims, benefits and value for money of those contracts are fully realised
  • Provide oversight and guidance to ensure delegated contracts are managed effectively

The Person

  • MCIPS or willingness to work towards the qualification
  • Ability to deliver effective training on procurement
  • Experience of leading procurement activity in a medium sized organisation
  • In depth knowledge of PA23
  • Understanding of sustainable procurement practices and contract management processes
