Job description

SF Recruitment are working in partnership with a well-established, manufacturing business based Nottingham to recruit a Procurement Manager. This is a fantastic full-time, permanent opportunity, reporting directly to the Managing Director.

You'll be taking the lead on all procurement activity across the business, managing supplier relationships, driving cost efficiency, and ensuring quality standards are met - all while heading up a team. This role would suit someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

What You'll Be Doing:
The primary responsibility is to lead and coordinate all purchasing activities within the business. This will include management of the existing supplier base with long term improvement strategies to expand. The successful candidate will be required to lead the team ensuring production materials are secured on time, meeting quality and price levels.

Suitable candidates will have sound knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and be able to coach others on the roles and responsibilities of purchasing and production planning. Reporting to the Plant Manager excellent communication skills will be required to maintain and build internal and external relationships.

Main duties:
- Oversee the development of the existing supplier base to improve their performance
- Develop long term agreements with suppliers
- Measure shortages preventing production orders being released on time
- Develop stocking policies which minimise the inventory required whilst ensuring the production does not stop
- Support the implementation of the formal Demand Planning and SIOP process role out on site
- Performance manage, develop, coach and lead the purchasing team
- Ensure compliance with relevant environmental procedures and requirements


Essential skills
- Coach others of the responsibilities of purchasing and production planning/control
- Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems
- Strong administration skills
- Strong IT skills specifically Excel, Access, Word
- Able to interpret clearly drawings, manufacturing parameters, planning and associated documentation
- Contract and negotiation skills

The client is looking for somebody who is highly organised and capable of working alone using initiative to make decisions. Suitable candidates will ideally have previous experience in a leadership role.
