Job description

Job Introduction

We have a brand-new opportunity to shape procurement at Childbase Partnership

Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for procurement and driving value? Do you want to build something from the ground up while making a meaningful impact? Join Childbase Partnership as our first-ever in-house Procurement Manager on a 1-year fixed-term contract and play a pivotal role in shaping how we source, manage, and deliver quality and value through our supplier relationships.

This is your chance to design and lead a procurement function that supports excellence across all areas of our business—from facilities and catering to educational resources and equipment. You’ll work closely with internal teams, develop supplier frameworks, lead negotiations, and ensure every purchasing decision aligns with our values and high standards.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Creating and implementing procurement policies and processes that ensure value, compliance, and transparency.
  • Leading sourcing, tendering, negotiation, and contract management across key supplier categories.
  • Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders to understand and support their procurement needs.
  • Developing a preferred supplier framework focused on quality, service, and sustainability.
  • Overseeing supplier onboarding, performance reviews, and compliance.
  • Identifying cost savings and added value opportunities through smarter purchasing strategies.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in setting up or leading procurement functions—ideally in education, healthcare, hospitality, or multi-site environments.
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
  • Experience developing procurement policies and compliance frameworks.
  • A proactive, independent approach with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
  • Commercial acumen and understanding of contract law.
  • Organised, detail-focused, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A collaborative mindset and drive for continuous improvement.

Desirable: MCIPS qualification (or equivalent).

What Makes Us Special?

  • 100% Employee-Owned: You become a partner in the business, sharing in profits tax-free and having a meaningful voice in decisions that shape our future.
  • Partnership Reward Days: Enjoy up to 20 additional paid days off per year, totalling up to 50 days leave annually, with length of service and with the option to sell some or all of these days if you prefer cash over time off.
  • Eco-Friendly: Our climate-positive status means we save more CO2 than we create, and we’ve planted over 2,000 trees in the Eden Restoration project.
  • Charitable Giving: We’ve raised £3.5 million for charity, making a big difference in our communities.
  • Positive Work Culture: We believe that we all belong, we all matter, and we all contribute to the company’s success.

We offer a comprehensive benefits package to support your work-life balance, growth, and well-being:

  • Competitive Salary: £55,000 - £60,000, based on experience
  • Employee Ownership: Share in profits tax-free and be part of our employee-owned business.
  • Generous Leave: 25 days annual leave (pro-rata) plus up to 20 extra paid Partnership Reward Days annually.
  • Childcare Discounts: 75% off for parents and 40% off for grandparents at any Childbase nursery.
  • Exclusive Rewards: Tax-free profit-sharing, long-service bonuses, retail discounts, family fun days, and cycle-to-work scheme.
  • Well-being Support: Access to Mental Health First Aiders, free meals at the nursery, subsidized medical care, flu jabs, eye care vouchers, and more.
  • Growth Opportunities: Take advantage of inset training days, online courses, apprenticeships, and continuous professional development.

Why Join Childbase Partnership? We’re an employee-owned, values-led organisation, recognised as one of the UK’s best places to work. At Childbase Partnership, our commitment to working in partnership with colleagues, with quality, ethics, and child wellbeing at the heart of everything we do.
