Job summary

GAP Group is seeking a Procurement Manager to join our Head Office team in Glasgow, driving strategic procurement across the business and shaping category strategies.

You will lead supplier negotiations, manage major OEM relationships, and mentor a procurement team while transforming procurement from transactional to strategic partner, delivering value and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in procurement or purchasing management.
• Experience within a multi-site, asset-intensive environment.
• Proven success in strategic sourcing and supplier negotiations.
• Experience supporting procurement transformation, process improvement or business change initiatives.
• Strong analytical and commercial skills, with the ability to interpret spend data.
• Experience managing supplier performance and contract delivery.
• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
• Proven leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop category and sourcing strategies across key equipment categories.
• Manage relationships with OEMs and suppliers, negotiating pricing, SLAs and commercial agreements.
• Lead tender processes and evaluate suppliers on quality, capability, sustainability and TCO.
• Drive supplier relationship management through regular reviews and partnerships.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and conduct value-for-money reviews across contracts.
• Monitor supplier performance and delivery networks across the UK depot network.
• Produce spend, savings and performance reports for senior stakeholders.
• Drive procurement governance and compliance across the business.
• Lead and develop a procurement team with a culture of continuous improvement.

Procurement Manager

GAP Group are looking for an experienced Procurement Manager to join our Head Office team in Glasgow and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of procurement across the business. This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic procurement professional who thrives on delivering value, building strong supplier partnerships and driving continuous improvement.

Reporting to the Head of Asset Management & Supply Chain, you'll be instrumental in developing category strategies, enhancing supplier performance, improving commercial outcomes and supporting the evolution of procurement from a transactional function to a strategic business partner.

What You'll Be Doing

• Developing and implementing category and sourcing strategies across key equipment categories
• Managing relationships with major OEMs and suppliers, negotiating pricing, service levels and commercial agreements
• Leading tender processes and evaluating suppliers based on quality, technical capability, sustainability and total cost of ownership
• Driving supplier relationship management through regular reviews and strategic partnerships
• Identifying cost-saving opportunities and conducting value-for-money reviews across supplier contracts
• Monitoring supplier performance, delivery networks and support capabilities across the UK's depot network
• Producing spend, savings and performance reports for senior stakeholders
• Driving procurement best practice, governance and compliance across the business
• Leading, mentoring and developing a procurement team while fostering a culture of continuous improvement

What You'll Bring

We're seeking a commercially astute procurement professional who combines strategic thinking with strong supplier management and stakeholder engagement skills.

Essential

• Significant experience in a procurement or purchasing management role
• Experience within a multi-site, asset-intensive, engineering, construction, manufacturing, hire or rental environment
• Proven success in strategic sourcing, category management and supplier negotiations
• Experience supporting procurement transformation, process improvement or business change initiatives
• Strong analytical and commercial skills, with the ability to interpret complex spend data and identify opportunities
• Experience managing supplier performance and contract delivery
• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
• Proven leadership experience with the ability to motivate, coach and develop teams

Desirable

• MCIPS qualification or currently working towards it
• Experience within plant hire, tool hire, construction or another asset-intensive sector
• Knowledge of ERP, P2P or spend analytics systems
