Job description

I’m partnering with a large, complex organisation to appoint an experienced Procurement Manager into a broad and highly visible position.

This is a hands-on role with responsibility for leading end-to-end procurement activity across a diverse portfolio of direct and indirect categories, including Technology, Facilities Management, HR, Marketing, Professional Services, Engineering and operational spend.

Working closely with senior stakeholders and operational teams, you will act as a trusted commercial adviser, leading complex sourcing activity from initial strategy and market engagement through to tender, negotiation, contract award and ongoing supplier management.

The role will include:

  • Developing and delivering category and procurement strategies across a broad portfolio of spend.
  • Leading complex end-to-end competitive and open tender processes.
  • Managing supplier selection, commercial negotiations, contract award and mobilisation.
  • Building strong relationships with senior operational and corporate stakeholders.
  • Providing commercial challenge and advice to ensure value for money and appropriate management of commercial risk.
  • Leading supplier and contract management, including performance reviews and KPI development.
  • Supporting the development and standardisation of contracts, SLAs and commercial agreements.
  • Using market intelligence and benchmarking to identify savings, innovation and opportunities for additional value.
  • Embedding ESG, sustainability and social value considerations into procurement activity.
  • Ensuring robust procurement governance, audit trails and legislative compliance.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve procurement processes and ways of working.

About you:

We are particularly interested in speaking with experienced procurement professionals who have worked within public sector, utilities, regulated or similarly complex environments.

You will ideally bring:

  • Strong experience independently managing end-to-end open tenders.
  • Good working knowledge and practical experience of the Procurement Act 2023.
  • Experience across a combination of direct and indirect procurement categories.
  • Strong strategic sourcing, tendering, negotiation and contract management capability.
  • Experience developing category or procurement strategies.
  • A track record of delivering commercial value, savings and procurement improvements.
  • Strong supplier and contract management experience.
  • The confidence to influence, challenge and advise senior stakeholders.
  • Experience working within environments where governance, transparency and compliance are critical.
  • An ability to operate autonomously and hit the ground running.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Procurement Manager who enjoys combining strategic procurement with hands-on delivery and wants to work within a complex organisation where procurement can make a visible commercial and operational impact.

I’m working on an excellent Procurement Manager opportunity with a complex, high-profile organisation in the West Midlands.

I’m particularly interested in speaking with candidates who have strong public sector/regulated procurement experience, Procurement Act 2023 knowledge and the ability to independently lead complex open tenders from start to finish.

It’s a broad role covering both direct and indirect spend, with significant exposure to senior stakeholders and the opportunity to make a genuine impact across procurement strategy, governance, supplier performance and commercial value.
