Procurement Manager

Location: Scotland (Glasgow) Monklands Replacement

Are you a strategic thinking senior construction Procurement Manager to support procurement activities on the biggest and best projects? Then we have the opportunity for you in our Healthcare sector

You will be instrumental in supporting the development of procurement strategies, policies and processes. You will draw on your sub-contract scoping and purchasing skills to enhance the way we work together and deliver a collaborative relationship.

As a Procurement Manager you will support the procurement strategy with the Senior Procurement Manager. You will be responsible for the delivery of project procurement objectives and requirements. Duties include:
  • Delivering on the Business Procurement objectives and requirements.
  • Provision and implementation of Project Procurement/Supply Chain/ sub-contract specific / strategic trades.
  • To provide market intelligence / cost advice / supply chain performance management and feedback to Central Procurement and Work Winning.
  • To support other Procurement professionals, sometimes including training & development; staff appraisals; retention & reward; and recruitment to provide an effective Procurement service for the Business.
  • To be responsible for the Procurement process of subcontractors, materials, plant and services, in accordance with the Project Procurement Strategy and LOR Values.
  • To provide an ethical and consistent approach to the procurement of goods and services and ensuring compliance with the LOR corporate governance and Procurement best practice throughout the process to meet current legislation.
  • To monitor markets and where appropriate, provide alternative procurement strategies to maximise opportunities or minimise risk.
  • To be accountable for the provision of management information and reports in accordance with business requirements.
  • To champion innovation and to put forward new and/or alternative methods, materials, products and systems that will increase competitive advantage and cost effective solutions.
  • Attendance at Business Plan Review (BPR) and Senior Leadership team meetings, as required.

Supply chain exposure
  • Experience of working within the construction industry or similar and demonstrated knowledge of the interfaces and relationships that exist.
  • Demonstrates the ability to manage, plan and structure operational procurement resources of mixed experience and capability.
  • Good communication skills (verbal & written).
  • Delivering robust procurement strategies.
  • A measured approach to decision making and the ability to ensure best value procurement.
  • Has delivered demonstrable added value through their procurement activity.

Experience of CIPS or working towards CIPS is desirable (Or chartership in another discipline CIOB or RICS). We are also considering relevant in job experience. We are considering candidates who are able to get to our offices in Dartford, Manchester or Birmingham.
