Job summary

Think Legal Recruitment is seeking a Procurement Lawyer (Managing Associate) to join a Leeds-based team. You will lead on complex public and utilities procurement matters, advising contracting authorities and private clients on strategy, contracts and regulatory compliance.

You'll supervise junior lawyers, develop client relationships and contribute to business development across national projects, with flexible hybrid working options across Leeds and other UK locations.

Qualifications

  • Qualified solicitor with 6+ years' post-qualification experience.
  • Experienced in public procurement and/or utilities procurement law.
  • Technically strong, commercially aware with autonomy on complex matters.
  • Able to supervise junior lawyers and build strong client relationships.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation and analytical skills.
  • Ambitious and collaborative with a view to growing the practice.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on complex procurement matters for contracting authorities, utilities and private clients.
  • Manage procurement workstreams on large, multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Advise clients throughout the procurement lifecycle with commercially focused guidance.
  • Support procurement disputes with collaboration from litigation colleagues.
  • Supervise and mentor junior lawyers within the team.
  • Build client relationships and contribute to business development and profile-raising.
  • Contribute to the growth and strategic development of the procurement practice.

The Role

Working alongside recognised experts in the field, you will:

  • Lead on complex public procurement matters, advising contracting authorities, utilities and private sector clients on procurement strategy, direct awards, contract modifications and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage procurement workstreams on large, multi-disciplinary projects alongside colleagues from technology, construction, real estate, transport, outsourcing and commercial teams.
  • Advise clients throughout the procurement lifecycle, delivering commercially focused, pragmatic legal advice.
  • Support procurement disputes by working closely with specialist litigation colleagues on risk assessment, case strategy and resolution.
  • Supervise and mentor junior lawyers, contributing to the continued development of the wider team.
  • Build and strengthen client relationships while playing an active role in business development, thought leadership and profile-raising activities.
  • Contribute to the ongoing growth and strategic development of a market-leading procurement practice.
About You

You will be:

  • A qualified solicitor with 6+ years' post-qualification experience.
  • Experienced in public procurement and/or utilities procurement law, gained within a recognised commercial practice.
  • Technically strong, commercially aware and confident managing complex matters with appropriate autonomy.
  • Comfortable supervising junior lawyers and developing strong client relationships.
  • An excellent communicator with strong drafting, negotiation and analytical skills.
  • Ambitious, collaborative and keen to play a key role in the continued success and growth of a leading procurement team.
