A leading company in engineering and manufacturing seeks a Procurement Engineer to manage part development and quality feedback loops for New Product Introduction and Continuous Product Improvement. Job description

Job Title: Procurement Engineer

Client: Global engineering & manufacturing client

Location: Peterlee

Hourly Rate: £26.49 PAYE or £34.78 Umbrella

Duration: 12 months

Working arrangements: Monday - Friday, on-site with potential travel to supplier sites in Europe once per month

About the Role:

As the Procurement Engineer, you will manage part development and quality feedback loops for New Product Introduction (NPI), Continuous Product Improvement (CPI), and New Source Introduction (NSI) activities by collaborating with suppliers, design control engineers, value chain engineering, and procurement category teams.

Responsibilities:
  1. Manage Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and cost management activities from concept to PPAP to deliver parts at the right quality, cost, and timeline, collaborating with packaging, transportation, business resources, and supply chain teams.
  2. Implement product supply strategies aligned with category management strategies to create a competitive advantage by developing, optimizing, and integrating a world-class supply network.
  3. Manage quality feedback loops to ensure lessons learned on defects are applied across the supply base.
  4. Drive Value Analysis and Value Engineering (VAVE) through cost modeling, design for manufacturability, and leveraging supplier capabilities.
Key Skills:
  • Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, and AIAG standards.
  • Extensive experience in supplier management and product development.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with internal and external partners.
