Overall Purpose of The Job: The Director of Procurement is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the strategic sourcing and procurement activities for the company. This role involves developing and implementing procurement strategies that align with the company's objectives, optimizing the supply chain, and managing vendor relationships to ensure the efficient and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services essential for fleet operations, as well as for Group-level procurement projects and initiatives including, but not limited to, onshore premises and services.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

Promoting a strong, proactive culture of outstanding Service Delivery, through:

  1. Continually providing strong, visible, and proactive examples of cost control and efficiency
  2. Promotion of a transparent & value-adding Service Delivery culture across the Group
  3. Promotion of outstanding operational standards of excellence
  4. Acting as change agent for the continual improvement of the Group’s service delivery performances

Strategic Procurement Leadership

  1. Develop and execute comprehensive procurement strategies that support the company’s business objectives
  2. Lead and manage the procurement team, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance management
  3. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the procurement department

Supplier Relationship Management

  1. Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, vendors, and contractors
  2. Negotiate high-value contracts and agreements, ensuring favorable terms and conditions
  3. Monitor supplier performance, addressing any issues related to quality, delivery, or compliance

Financial Oversight

  1. Develop and manage the procurement budget, ensuring cost-effective purchasing decisions
  2. Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements
  3. Analyze financial data and market trends to make informed procurement decisions

Risk Management and Compliance

  1. Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and international standards
  2. Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including geopolitical, economic, and environmental factors
  3. Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of procurement transactions and contracts

Collaboration and Communication

  1. Collaborate with senior management and other departments to understand and meet their procurement needs
  2. Provide regular updates and reports on procurement activities, performance metrics, and market conditions to the executive team
  3. Represent the procurement function in cross-functional meetings and strategic planning sessions

Technology and Process Optimization

  1. Implement and leverage procurement software and technologies to enhance efficiency and transparency
  2. Streamline procurement processes, reducing cycle times and improving responsiveness
  3. Stay informed about the latest industry trends and best practices, integrating them into the procurement strategy

Essential

  1. Relevant qualifications in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Maritime Studies, or a related field; senior degree or relevant certification (e.g., CPSM, CIPS) is preferred
  2. Significant experience in procurement, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role within the maritime or shipping industry
  3. Proven track record of successful strategic sourcing, supplier negotiation, and team leadership
  4. Exceptional negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  5. Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite

Desirable

  1. In-depth knowledge of operational maritime regulations and industry standards
  2. High level of integrity and professionalism
  3. Strategic thinker with strong business acumen
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  5. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
