Job summary

NEPO is seeking a Procurement Coordinator to deliver defined procurement, contract management and stakeholder engagement activity within NEPRO. Qualifications

  • Experience in procurement, sourcing or commercial activity
  • MCIPS qualification or equivalent or active study towards MCIPS Level 5 or above
  • Experience with contracts management including performance monitoring and supplier engagement
  • Strong commercial acumen with ability to use market insight and data to identify risks and opportunities
  • Knowledge of public-sector procurement and applicable regulations

Responsibilities

  • Deliver procurement activity from scoping to award and implementation

Description

The Procurement Coordinator will play a key role in the delivery, performance and continued development of NEPRO, our flagship brand of strategic procurement solutions.

Working within a fast-paced and varied environment, the postholder will deliver defined procurement, contract management and stakeholder engagement activity. They will work closely with the Procurement Business Partner and NEPRO team, public-sector customers and suppliers to ensure activity is delivered to a high standard and generates strong commercial outcomes.

The role provides an opportunity for an ambitious procurement professional to build broad experience, take early ownership and contribute to the continued growth and profile of an innovative procurement offering.

Key responsibilities
  • Deliver defined procurement activity, from initial scoping and market engagement through to evaluation, award and implementation
  • Coordinate contract management activity, including performance reporting, action tracking, risk management and continuous improvement
  • Develop effective relationships with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders
  • Analyse management information, customer feedback and market insight to identify performance issues, risks and commercial opportunities
  • Support the development and delivery of plans to improve customer experience, supplier engagement and use of the NEPRO solutions
  • Take ownership of allocated activities and ensure actions are progressed accurately, proactively and at pace
  • Contribute to the development of guidance, case studies, communications and other materials that strengthen NEPRO's market position and external profile
  • Represent NEPO confidently in customer meetings, supplier discussions, working groups and relevant regional or national forums
  • Identify opportunities to improve procurement processes, contract performance and ways of working
  • Contribute to wider NEPO priorities and improvement initiatives where these align with the role

The successful candidate will be expected to work with a high degree of initiative, manage competing priorities and quickly build credibility with a wide range of stakeholders. They will combine strong attention to detail with commercial awareness, sound judgement and a willingness to challenge and improve existing approaches.

Profile

The successful applicant will be an experienced and ambitious procurement professional who can quickly take ownership of procurement and contract management activity within a fast-paced and commercially focused environment.

They will demonstrate:

  • Relevant experience working in procurement, sourcing or commercial activity, including responsibility for defined elements of an end-to-end procurement process
  • MCIPS qualification, active study towards MCIPS at Level 5 or above, or an equivalent recognised procurement or commercial qualification
  • Experience of supporting or managing contracts, including performance monitoring, supplier engagement, risk management and continuous improvement
  • Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to use market insight, management information and sound judgement to identify risks and opportunities
  • Practical knowledge of public-sector procurement, with a sound working knowledge of the Procurement Act 2023, the Procurement Regulations 2024 and their application across the procurement lifecycle
  • Evidence of delivering high-quality work at pace, managing competing priorities and meeting challenging deadlines with limited supervision
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to build credible, productive relationships with customers, suppliers and senior colleagues
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience of producing reports, presenting information confidently and adapting communication for different audiences
  • Confident use of digital tools, including Microsoft 365, e-procurement systems (or equivalent) and data or reporting platforms, with the ability to use technology to improve efficiency and support decision-making
