Essex County Council is seeking a Procurement & Contracts Lawyer to support Harlow District Council on a full‑time, temporary basis. The role requires on‑site presence for at least three days per week and handles high‑level procurement and contract matters for the Council.

The successful candidate will provide expert legal advice to Officers, Members and Directors, attend Committees, and help develop the Council's legal services. This is a 3‑month contract based in Harlow, Essex.

Qualifications

• Experience in non-contentious procurement, contract and company matters.
• Ability to appear as Advocate before the Courts on behalf of the Council.
• Knowledge of LEXCEL accreditation processes and corporate governance.

Responsabilités

• Provide legal advice to the Council, its Chief Officers, Members and Directors.
• Undertake complex high-risk non-contentious procurement and contract matters and act in court as needed.
• Advise Committees and Sub-Committees and attend relevant meetings.
• Keep informed of developments in procurement and contract law and advise client departments and officers.
• Perform statutory and delegated duties and contribute to the delivery of Legal Services.
