About this Opportunity

Gleeds is a leading global property and construction consultancy. Independent since 1875, we are proud to deliver award-winning projects around the world. We are an accredited Great Place to Work employer, with our people at the heart of everything we do.

With over 40 years of experience in the energy sector, Gleeds is at the forefront of the transition to a more sustainable future, delivering major projects in solar, hydrogen, nuclear, renewables, and defence. We are proud to play a key role in shaping critical national infrastructure and invite you to be part of our journey.

We are currently seeking a Procurement Consultant to join our team in supporting a high-profile nuclear defence project. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially-minded individual with a strong background in commercial management who is looking to transition or expand into a procurement-focused consultancy role.

In this role you will be responsible for evaluating, recommending and implementing industry best practice, strategic procurement systems, processes and procedures with Energy/Nuclear/Defence/Central Government customers.

Your day-to-day might include:
  • Lead and support strategic procurement activities on high-value, complex infrastructure programmes within the nuclear defence sector.
  • Producing appropriate procurement documentation and running an end-to-end procurement process, securing buy-in from all stakeholders, enabling the client to deliver the best prospect of success for the project to achieve its strategic goals and objectives in all stages of the procurement (and delivery) cycle, ensuring that approved strategies are implemented operationally.
  • Apply your commercial acumen to ensure value-for-money procurement strategies, aligning commercial and procurement best practices with client objectives.
  • Gaining corporate assurance and governance approval for the procurement deliverables.
  • Leading and managing the procurement evaluation process.
  • Support contract drafting and provide strategic input into commercial negotiations.
  • Report on procurement progress and provide commercial insight to support project delivery.

Who we’re looking for:
  • A strong background in commercial management, ideally gained within large-scale infrastructure, defence or nuclear projects.
  • Experience of working in or alongside procurement teams, with a clear understanding of public sector and/or regulated procurement environments.
  • Knowledge of procurement, frameworks, and contract forms such as NEC or FIDIC is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to operate effectively in complex, multi-stakeholder environments
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation and report-writing skills.
  • SC clearance or the ability to obtain security clearance due to the sensitive nature of the work.
  • Professional qualifications and/or membership of the RICS or the CIPS is desirable. Progress towards this will be supported if not already obtained.

What we can offer you:
  • Clear opportunities to develop and grow your career through training and further qualifications.
  • Fantastic networking opportunities to grow your personal brand and expand your understanding of the industry.
  • Generous holiday allowance plus the option to purchase additional days through the holiday purchase scheme.
  • Highly competitive salary and the opportunity to increase this through continuous reviews.
  • Employee Assistance Programme to ensure your health and personal well-being comes first.
  • Our global travel scholarship programme gives you the unique opportunity to gain global experience.
  • Flexible working arrangements to ensure you have a healthy work-life balance.
  • Volunteering opportunities to engage with your local community or charitable organisations.
  • Unparalleled support from central teams and a company that is recognised as a Great Place to Work.
