Job description

Job Title: Interim Procurement Business Partner

Opus People Solutions is working with an organization to recruit an interim Procurement Business Partner to support the Assistant Director in delivering a programme of procurement projects as prioritized by the A&I Procurement Management Team. The successful candidate will provide effective commercial challenge to the organization and enable all spend owners (directorate/category) to maximize value from every pound spent in the market.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Understand the Client: Develop partnerships and build relationships with key internal stakeholders up to and including Assistant Director level. Act as a business partner and a critical friend to help solve commercial problems and realize opportunities while ensuring compliance with procurement policies.
  2. Understand the Client's Commercial Drivers and Success Criteria: Translate them into procurement projects with measurable outcomes, applying commercial challenge to ensure value for money and appropriate risk management in decision-making.
  3. Develop and Deliver a Category Procurement Strategy: For medium-value categories, develop an organization-wide procurement approach for sourcing, purchasing, and tendering activities that maximizes value for money, generates cost savings, and realizes social value benefits. The strategy should include short, medium, and long-term goals.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience at a senior level in procurement within large, complex, and multidisciplinary organizations, with an understanding of strategic procurement contexts.
  • Experience in developing and implementing business processes and strategies aligned with departmental and corporate objectives.
  • Strong project management and planning skills to handle complex projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal, persuasive, and negotiation skills, along with strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Commercial acumen and awareness of various funding and contract arrangements.
  • Ability to develop and foster key partnerships with suppliers, customers, and partners.
  • Experience in effective change management to enhance performance within the organization and the supply market.
