Job Vacancy

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to work as part of the Procurement Team in supporting purchasing activities across all aspects of the Council's business, administering the quick quote process and helping the delivery of the Council's Procurement Strategy.

The post will be based in Midlothian House, Dalkeith although the postholder will be able to work remotely with attendance at Midlothian House on a hybrid basis.

Knowledge

The jobholder will hold a Higher National Certificate (HNC) or similar qualification, or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience in a technical or administrative/business related subject. The jobholder will be expected to become a member of CIPS in order to work towards attaining a procurement qualification.

The jobholder is expected to demonstrate a high level of competency in IT, including MS Office and administrative skills. They will have excellent attention to detail and the skills to analyse and interpret data.

Well established interpersonal skills are essential and the ability to deliver training sessions.

It is essential that the jobholder has the ability to manage their own workload to meet deadlines and keep abreast of national procurement legislation.

Please note that it is Midlothian Council's policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale.

Based on 36 hours over 52 weeks per year, the minimum actual salary for this position is £30,243.53 per annum.

Responsibilities

Compliance with the mandatory Cabinet Office PSN (Public Sector Network) Code of Connection requires the Council to meet a baseline personal security standard. This requires completion of a disclosure check for all employees who can access official information. The fee for this PSN Disclosure check will be met by you.
