Join to apply for the Procurement and Supply Chain Manager role at Costain Group PLC.

This role supports extensive work across the water sector, including projects for United Utilities in the AMP8 and AMP9 investment cycles, covering infrastructure and non-infrastructure assets in the North West and Cumbria regions.

The Procurement and Supply Chain Manager will lead project subcontract procurement, advise stakeholders, and develop category strategies aligned with group objectives. The role involves collaboration within the Water sector Procurement and Supply Chain team, working closely with project leads and senior management. It offers an opportunity to drive efficiency, sustainability, and innovation within procurement and supply chain functions.

This is a Hybrid role based in Warrington and Manchester, requiring 2-3 days in the office weekly.

Responsibilities

• Lead procurement and supply chain management for projects, supporting pre- and post-contract activities.
• Utilize procurement processes to enable early contractor involvement (ECI) and guide decision-making according to governance standards.
• Manage subcontract procurement to meet project milestones, ensuring forecast accuracy and robust supply chains.
• Drive ESG initiatives, including local SME engagement and Net Zero commitments.
• Foster collaboration and innovation within the supply chain, leveraging ISO44001 or P13 principles.
• Develop relationships with internal stakeholders and external supply chain partners to maximize value and stakeholder engagement.
• Manage supply chain performance, addressing under-performance and sharing lessons learned.

Essential Qualifications

• Significant experience in a similar role with a focus on procurement and supply chain management.
• Knowledge of construction industry procurement practices.
• Experience with ESG and sustainable procurement policies.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong analytical skills.
• Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) qualification (min level 5).

Desirable Skills

• Experience negotiating NEC contracts and working with frameworks.
• Knowledge of ISO20400 and delivering sustainable supply chain outcomes.
• Experience with ISO44001 or Project 13 principles.
