The Procurement Advisory Consultant will join our growing, diverse team of experienced IT procurement professionals to deliver commercial and procurement advisory, renewals management, and transaction services for software assets. This involves defining and implementing a structured, repeatable process for optimal commercial routes for renewals and new purchases, aligned with customer strategies.

Activities will be delivered to a portfolio of mid-size UK-based businesses and global enterprises within a managed service framework. The primary goal is to drive savings for our customers by reducing operational overhead and optimizing spend. The Consultant will also support pre-sales and sales efforts by promoting procurement-related services tailored to customer needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Proactively review renewal and new purchase transactions to ensure optimal financial and strategic outcomes.
  2. Review existing software to identify overlaps and opportunities for discontinuation, reducing transaction volume.
  3. Consider alternative products, versions, or suites for added value or cost reduction.
  4. Ensure software contracts align with future strategies.
  5. Engage with vendors to obtain competing quotations and select the best value offerings.
  6. Attempt to co-term contracts to reduce transaction volume and secure discounts.
  7. Analyze historic spend for consolidation opportunities to lower costs or increase benefits.
  8. Create Service Review reports demonstrating activity volume and value delivered, and suggest improvements.
  9. Build strong relationships with procurement and SAM functions within the customer organization.
  10. Ensure timely delivery of quality services as per contractual SLAs.
  11. Provide ad-hoc procurement and commercial advice to customers.
  12. Maintain and develop knowledge of software contracts and vendors.
  13. Contribute to change programs from an Asset Management perspective.
  14. Identify opportunities for Bytes to propose new or additional services.
  15. Escalate service issues within the business and to management.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum A-Level certification - ESSENTIAL
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant subject - DESIRABLE
  • Professional Qualifications such as CIPS Diploma (Standard, Advanced, or Professional) - ESSENTIAL
  • ITAM/SAM Certification (e.g., CSAM) - DESIRABLE
  • ILIL Foundation - DESIRABLE
  • PRINCE2 Project Management Certification - DESIRABLE

Years of Experience:

  • Over five years of experience in Software Procurement/Contract Management, focusing on contract optimization - ESSENTIAL
  • Experience in legal and commercial negotiation of software contracts - ESSENTIAL
  • Proven track record in delivering procurement services and achieving cost savings within complex organizations - ESSENTIAL
  • Knowledge of key vendor licensing schemes, including Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, SAP, Adobe, RedHat, Veritas, and Symantec - DESIRABLE

Other Requirements:

  • Legally eligible to work in the position's country - ESSENTIAL
