- Work with business teams to define requirements, assess sourcing options and develop appropriate contracting strategies.
- Prepare tender documentation, assess commercial proposals and coordinate technical input from relevant stakeholders.
- Review proposed departures from contract terms, evaluate their commercial implications and prepare clear award recommendations.
- Negotiate pricing and contractual terms, identifying risks, liabilities and matters requiring management approval.
- Bring together internal teams and suppliers to resolve commercial and contractual issues within agreed deadlines.
- Support contract owners after award, providing guidance on contractual obligations, interpretation and amendments.
- Maintain supplier relationships and monitor market developments to inform purchasing decisions and service delivery.
- Ensure procurement decisions and records meet internal governance requirements, delegated authorities and applicable legislation.
- Coach less experienced procurement colleagues and develop structured onboarding and training plans for new team members.
- Identify opportunities to improve procurement processes, strengthen controls and increase efficiency.
- Uphold standards relating to ethical conduct, compliance, health, safety and environmental responsibility.
- Support the Procurement Manager with additional activities appropriate to the role.
What you’ll bring
- Substantial procurement and contracting experience, including responsibility for the full sourcing and purchasing cycle.
- Strong commercial judgement, with a proven ability to evaluate bids, negotiate agreements and assess contractual risk.
- Experience translating business requirements into practical sourcing strategies and clear tender documentation.
- Confidence working with stakeholders across different functions and managing relationships with external suppliers.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to meet demanding deadlines and respond to changing priorities.
- Clear written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain contractual issues and present recommendations.
- Practical knowledge of procurement systems, ideally SAP, alongside proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- A collaborative approach and the ability to support the development of colleagues.
- High standards of integrity, discretion and professional conduct.
- A degree in business, commerce or a related discipline.
- Experience procuring HR services or working within the HR services sector.
