Hours: 38 hours per week plus the inclusion onto a standby rota for which you will receive additional payment

Salary: Starting from £26,000 per annum depending on skills and experience

Base Location: Horley - RH6 8HE.
Working Pattern: 38 hours per week including working on a call-out rota where you will receive additional payment.

What you’ll be doing as a Process Technician (Waste)

  • Working closely with Senior Process Technician.
  • Ensuring our sites are running safely, efficiently and within permitted site specifications to protect the environment.
  • Monitoring, inspecting, and maintaining equipment and reporting any defective items to ensure a swift repair or attempting a first-time fix where possible.
  • Taking ownership of your own and colleagues' health and safety by escalating any concerns to your manager or resolving them yourself where possible and appropriate.
  • Collating and reporting data to ensure statutory and regulatory compliance.
  • Working 1 weekend every 6 weeks.

You do not need a background in the Water industry. We would welcome applications from candidates outside of the sector, bringing fresh perspectives and ideas, but you must be:

  • Comfortable working outdoors, potentially in all weather conditions.
  • Part of a team that delivers excellent performance by understanding how you affect the overall mission of Thames Water.
  • Having a good sense of humour, because of what you will be working with and not be too squeamish.
  • Adaptable, flexible, patient, reliable and self-motivated.
  • Good with time management.
  • Confident to work effectively and efficiently on your own.
  • Keen to learn and operate complex processes with high-quality controls.
  • Able to complete basic tasks on a computer e.g., input site performance data and view their day's work via a hand-held device.

What you should bring to the role

  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Experience in delivering against challenging upper-quartile business targets and performance commitments.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective internal and external relationships to a high standard.
  • Ability to influence and drive the right culture and behaviours.
  • A positive approach to handling changes, embracing all natures of change including technology, process, behavioural and organisational change.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service both internally and externally.
  • IT literate.
  • Team player who can work in many different teams, showing respect for others, providing helpful feedback and supporting the development of others.
