Job description

As an Operations Process Technician, you'll be at the heart of our frontline operations, taking on various tasks that keep our essential wastewater treatment services running smoothly. Based at Guildford STW, you'll be an integral part of our operations team, ensuring the continuous operation of our wastewater treatment works. Your daily tasks will range from routine duties to handling unexpected challenges, working outdoors to deliver reliable services while protecting the environment.

Key Details
  • Location: Guildford, GU1 1RU
  • Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 3:36 PM (38 hours per week)
  • Call-out rota: Participation with additional pay for availability and response
Responsibilities
  • Ensure site safety, efficiency, and compliance with permitted standards
  • Monitor, inspect, maintain equipment, and report defects for repairs or attempt first-time fixes
  • Take ownership of health and safety concerns, escalating or resolving as appropriate
  • Collect and report data to meet statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Work one weekend every six weeks once on the full schedule
Candidate Profile

No prior water industry experience is required. We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds who:

  • Are comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Understand their role's impact on Thames Water's mission
  • Manage time effectively
  • Work independently and confidently
  • Are eager to learn and operate complex processes with high standards
  • Can perform basic computer tasks, including data entry and viewing work schedules on a handheld device
Requirements
  • Full UK driving license
  • Experience in achieving high business performance targets
  • Positive attitude towards change, including technology and organizational shifts
  • Excellent internal and external customer service skills
  • IT literacy
  • Team-oriented with respectful communication and supportive behavior
