Manufacturing / Process Technician (CNC) – Ilminster, Somerset

Full Time, Permanent

Salary: £36,825- £45,600 (includes 20% shift). Benefits Package.

Our client, a well-established and forward-thinking manufacturer, is seeking a skilled Manufacturing / Process Technician with CNC experience to join their production team. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a company that prides itself on engineering quality, precision, and continuous improvement. In this role, you\'ll play a key part in helping the production team achieve right first time and right all the time performance. You\'ll be responsible for machine setup, tooling control, and process optimisation, ensuring consistent quality, reduced downtime, and efficient manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities
  • Set up and optimise CNC and production machinery to high technical standards.
  • Manage tooling, offsets, and setup times to deliver stable, repeatable processes.
  • Work closely with Production Engineering to resolve technical or programming issues.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase quality, efficiency, and safety.
  • Create and maintain setup documentation and support operator training.
  • Take an active role in continuous improvement, 5S, and Kaizen initiatives.
Requirements
  • Experience of milling, turning or any other engineering machinery operation.
  • The ability to use measuring equipment such as vernier callipers and micrometres.
  • Background in manufacturing, CNC machining, or production engineering.
  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach.
  • Proven experience improving process reliability and machine performance.
  • Knowledge of Lean, TPM, or continuous improvement methodologies is desirable.
