We have a great opportunity for a Process Technician to work as part of a close and supportive Operations team within Strategic Pumping and Trunk Sewers. You will focus on maintaining and improving our strategic pumping stations across North-East London and supporting the team on larger-scale projects.

You do not need a background in the Water industry. We would welcome applications from candidates outside of the sector, bringing fresh perspectives and ideas.

This role is an essential front-line role, to perform a range of activities to ensure that all the plant and equipment associated with strategic pumping stations and trunk sewers in London are kept serviceable and ready to be operated safely and efficiently.

There has never been a better time to join our organisation as we build towards a greener future, tackling climate change, minimising our environmental impact and reducing our carbon footprint.

What you’ll be doing as the Process Technician
  • Completing routine checks, basic planned preventative maintenance, and problem-solving to ensure the smooth running of the pumping station.
  • Completing monitoring checks to ensure the plant is running efficiently and identifying trends.
  • Undertaking health and safety and security checks. Highlighting and reporting hazards, near misses and incidents, including statutory testing for legionella, fire and housekeeping; making the area safe, escalating any issues to your line manager as soon as possible.
  • Operation of large storm pumping stations to manage our customers' network.
  • Operation of large mechanical equipment to provide safe plant and hydraulic flow isolations.
  • Completion of confined space entries to complete inspections, maintenance and fault finding.
  • Providing technical assistance and guidance to new starters as well as existing colleagues.
  • Attending all team meetings, engaging with safety briefings and company communications and raising constructive feedback with the management team, with suggestions for improvements.

Base Location: Abbey Mills - Stratford - E15 2RN.

Working Pattern: 38 hours Monday-Friday 7:30 am - 3:36 pm plus Standby rota payments & Overtime opportunities can increase your earning potential upon completion of essential company training.

Due to the nature of this role, you must hold a full UK driver's licence.

To thrive in this role, the essential criteria you’ll need are:
  • Be a self-motivated individual who can immerse themselves in the team around them. You need to be very disciplined, have the desire to learn from those around you, and have a can-do attitude. This role can be demanding at times, but very rewarding too.
  • Take Ownership of responding quickly to faults, being curious to fully understand the problem, and identifying the best solution to resolve it the first time.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with the team.

  • Proactive - take the lead on recommendations and improvements around the site and communicate effectively.
