Job summary

Thames Water in Horley, Surrey, is seeking a Process Technician to join our frontline team. You will perform scheduled maintenance, operate and clean plant, and respond to faults across multiple sites to keep our sewage treatment works running and protect the environment. A full UK driving licence is required.

This is a 38-hour week (Mon-Fri, 7:30 am–3:36 pm) with standby payments and overtime potential after training. We offer a strong benefits package and a friendly, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out scheduled planned maintenance on plant and equipment per company standards to improve resilience.
  • Operate and, where required, clean plant/equipment to meet on-site health & safety standards.
  • Attend reactive jobs following plant/equipment faults.
  • Keep sites clean, tidy and perform safety/security checks.
  • Carry out daily site checks to ensure compliant operation.

About the role:

We have a great opportunity for a Process Technician to join our team at Horley (Surrey) STW.

You do not need a background in the waste or water industry. We would welcome applications from candidates outside of the sector, bringing fresh perspectives and ideas,

This role is an essential front-line role, which the business simply cannot operate without you. Every day is different; you will be working in all weather conditions carrying out a range of tasks across multiple sites to ensure the essential functions of our sewage treatment works operate to maintain the supply to our customers and protect the environment. Planned preventative maintenance of equipment to support the operation of the plant.

What you’ll be doing as the Process Technician
  • Carrying out scheduled planned maintenance work on plant and equipment in compliance with company standards and procedures to improve plant resilience.
  • Operating and cleaning plant and equipment to ensure on-site operational and health and safety standards are maintained.
  • Attending reactive jobs following plant and equipment failure.
  • Keeping sites clean and tidy and undertaking safety and security checks.
  • Carrying out daily site checks to ensure compliant operation
Base Location: Horley (Surrey) STW – RH6 8HE
Working Pattern:

38 Hours Monday - Friday 7:30 am – 3:36 pm plus Standby rota payments & Overtime opportunities can increase your earning potential upon completion of essential company training.

Due to the nature of this role, you must hold a full UK driver's licence.

  • Be a self-motivated individual who can immerse themselves in the team around them; you need to be very disciplined, have the desire to learn from those around you and have a can‑do attitude. This role can be demanding at times but very rewarding too.
  • Take Ownership of responding quickly to faults, being curious to fully understand the problem, and identifying the best solution to resolve it the first time.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with the team.

  • Must be prepared to be trained in safety procedures.
