Job summary

Rolls-Royce in the UK is seeking a Process Safety Engineer to join our team across Derby, Solihull or Rotherham on a full-time permanent basis. The role focuses on the design, execution and successful implementation of process safety requirements for our process operations.

You will lead PHAs and related risk assessments, support HAZID/HAZOP/LOPA activities, and ensure compliance with SEVESO III, IEC 61508/ISO 61511. Travel about 10% of the working week across sites.

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Process Safety or related discipline or significant relevant experience.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a process-driven environment.
• Solid understanding of SEVESO III Directive and its application in high-hazard settings.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Proactive, collaborative approach to process safety and ability to engage across site functions.

Responsibilities

• Understand project scope, specifications and design criteria while driving a proactive PSM culture at site(s).
• Lead and implement all aspects of process safety management and regulatory compliance.
• Review hazard assessments and support PHA, HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, SIL activities.
• Lead, coordinate and participate in PHAs; willing to become a PHA facilitator.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement process changes for continuous improvement.
• Utilise software platforms to manage changes and coordinate site support.
• Assist with identifying explosive atmospheres and hazardous area classifications.
