A leading industrial firm in Shildon is seeking a Process Safety Engineer to maintain safety standards and ensure compliance with regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in process safety risk assessment methodologies, operational experience, and a Chemical Engineering Degree. Key Responsibilities
•Maintain PPG's minimum acceptable Global EHS requirements & practices associated with conducting a Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) for processes Classified as B and C according to the PPG Requirement – Process Safety: Applicability.
•Ensure the facility is in compliance with the requirements of all applicable governmental regulations (e.g. Federal, State, Provincial, local) when these are different from, or more stringent than, the PPG requirements.
•Maintain a list of, and revalidation date for, processes that require PHAs.
•Maintain process safety information adequate for proper performance of the PHA.
•Prepare adequately trained teams to complete the PHAs.
•Complete initial PHAs before startup of new processes.
•Revalidate PHAs at least every 5 years.
•Complete PHA action items where mitigation is mandated by the PPG PHA Risk Matrix.
Qualifications
•A solid understanding of process safety related risk assessment methodologies and standards such as HAZID, HAZOP, PHR, SIL, LOPA, FMEA, PSM, PHA, DSEAR, Occupied Buildings, Bowtie Assessments, Hazardous Area Classification.
•Knowledge of COMAH regulations and experience with regulators and writing safety reports.
•Operational experience of process safety management including topics such as leadership, culture, competence, asset integrity, permit to work, isolations and operating procedures.
•Chemical Engineering Degree, ideally chartered.
