Job description

Title: Process Safety Engineer

Location: Plaquemine, LA


Salary: $114,504 - $149,760 plus additional bonus

Schedule: 9/80 Schedule Available

Focus: In your role as a Process Safety Engineer, you will lead the site effort in maintaining robust Process Safety systems and compliance. The Process Safety Engineer is responsible for education of facility personnel to enable the facility to effectively apply Process Safety regulations (both state and federal) as well as Process Safety company policies, incorporating best practices, and establishing an overall continuous improvement process for Process Safety related activities. This role reports to the LAO Environmental and Process Safety Manager.
Process Safety Engineer Essential Job Functions:

  • Maintains Process Safety and Reactive Chemical excellence. Works with Process Safety leadership and Technology Subject Matter Experts to provide proper interpretation and guidance of the process safety mandatory regulatory requirements and Olin recommended practices.

  • Leads site PHA update and revalidation effort. Participates in site technical reviews. Owns the Process Safety results of all Plant Technical Reviews and Process Hazard Assessments with the intent to drive these actions to completion in a timely fashion.

  • Owns site implementation of Process Safety Fundamentals. Works with Production, Maintenance, and Engineering Leaders to gain resources and support for making changes that will close any identified gaps.

  • Coordinates site MOC/PSSR systems. Performs process safety reviews on site changes.

  • Provides process safety leadership through participation in and follow up from audits, investigations/root cause analysis, mechanical integrity evaluations, training evaluations, new project reviews, controls, SIS, and relief design.

  • Participates in chemicals division process safety teams through routine meetings and as needed on special projects. May be leveraged to support other Gulf Coast operating units.

  • Functions as a general site Improvement Engineer as process safety duties allow.


Process Safety Engineer Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree* in Engineering

  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Previous experience writing MOCs, participating in PHAs, leading RCAs, and leading PSSRs.

  • Substantial knowledge of Process Safety tools, process safety management systems and applicable regulations, codes and standards preferred.

  • High initiative, strong interpersonal skills, and experience working cross-functionally.

  • SAP and project management software experience preferred.

  • Prior Olin experience in a relevant position preferred.

  • Must be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) and possess a valid US Driver's license.
