Sr Quality Engineer
Location: Melksham
Contract: Permanent
We are recruiting for a Quality Engineer to join a provider of design, development, testing, and manufacture of integrated protective systems. As a Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for managing quality and product development, helping improve and develop processes, and implementing changes to make processes robust and improve customer experience.
Role Requirements – Sr Quality Engineer
- Manage and drive process improvement/CI activities (Kaizen).
- Review and audit processes and controls to identify areas for improvement, implement updates, and ensure processes are made robust through Quality documentation controls (Best practice, SOPs/Control Plans, etc.).
- Assist in collating all current safety, quality, and rate issues to ensure our process and design teams reduce or eliminate risks through FMEAs/Control Plan creation and support these activities.
- Monitor and collate KPI metrics and OKR data and act accordingly for CI within the value stream.
- Coordinate the build of pre-production parts with the planning and production teams.
- Carry out specific projects as requested, and actively promote, run, and be involved in Kaizens.
- Manage the customer experience with regards to quality concerns and problem-solving (CAPA).
- Fulfill operational requirements as set out by the Value Stream and Quality Manager.
- Ensure that all work undertaken complies with Health & Safety.
- Conduct supplier audits and drive supplier improvements, process, component, and material opportunities.
- Support APQP/NPI projects and activities using lean manufacturing best practices.
The ideal candidate for the Sr Quality Engineer role would have:
- Computer literacy.
- Six Sigma yellow belt or above.
- Training in and proficiency in disciplined problem-solving techniques.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing.
- CI practitioner.
- Quality engineering degree (desired).
- Experience in conducting PPAP submissions.
- Ability to ensure the change control process is utilized and managed effectively.
- Minimum 2-3 years in a Quality Engineering or Manufacturing environment.
- Proven record in CI/Kaizen and Lean principles.
