We are seeking a process/piping CAD capability lead for our growing Nuclear and Net Zero Market. This position would be based from one of our core UK offices (ideally Glasgow or Bristol, but other locations across the UK will be considered) with a flexible mix of home-working and office time. Full-time or part-time applicants are welcome.

Join us in building a carbon-free future.

Are you a lead CAD designer who thrives on collaboration and organizing others? Are you excited by complex projects and providing leadership, setting up projects, and guiding CAD designers and engineering teams? Do you want to develop a group-wide CAD strategy and lead CAD initiatives?

If so, you could support renewable energy projects and UK nuclear projects, managing multiple projects simultaneously. Adaptability is essential!

If you are a self-starter capable of delivering multiple projects, working closely with clients and internal teams to capture requirements, set up projects, and deliver right-first-time solutions, then we encourage you to apply.

Your Purpose:

You will work alongside engineering teams to prepare designs, 3D models, and detailed drawings that meet project and client requirements. You will be responsible for developing our cross-market piping CAD strategy, expanding our capability, and establishing a centre of expertise in this rapidly growing market.

Tasks may include:

  • Developing the piping CAD capability and growth strategy.
  • Coordinating CAD designers in the UK and India to deliver high-quality drawings.
  • Collaborating with engineers, clients, and CAD teams to select and set up appropriate software.
  • Reviewing and checking designs for compliance with project requirements.
  • Ensuring adherence to company standards, conventions, procedures, and applicable engineering codes (including BS 8888).
  • Managing multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Leading CAD improvement initiatives and tools development.

What you can bring:

You should have experience producing designs and drawings according to engineering codes and practices, with leadership experience or a desire to lead. Comfort working in dynamic environments and a drive to contribute to business success are essential.

You should be able to liaise effectively with stakeholders at all levels, internally and externally, and have a proven track record of working effectively as part of a project team.

Supporting Quality Assurance processes through reviews and presenting findings to clients is expected, with experience spanning the entire project lifecycle.

Key skills and attributes include:

  • Experience with 2D/3D piping CAD software such as Plant 3D, AVEVA E3D/PDMS, AutoCAD (including setup and configuration).
  • Knowledge of software compatibility and integration.
  • An understanding of delivering and reviewing technically compliant design deliverables.
  • Experience in piping CAD delivery in high-hazard industrial settings (e.g., Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Nuclear).
  • A desire to lead and guide others.

Optional attributes:

  • A diploma in Engineering design, drafting, or equivalent.
  • Experience leading teams and developing strategies.
  • Knowledge of EDMS/PLM software such as Vault, Projectwise, and Teamcenter.
