Job summary

EGGER UK is seeking a plant operator to join the shift team at Hexham. The role involves operating and maintaining plant processes, ensuring safety and quality, and participating in training to cover all plant functions.

You will be part of a 12-hour shift pattern (days/nights) with opportunities for development and involvement in continuous improvement initiatives. The employer offers a broad benefits package and career growth within a global manufacturing group.

Qualifications

  • One day Health and Safety course (training provided).
  • Fork lift truck and front loader license (training provided).
  • Up to date first aid certificate (training provided).
  • Chemical plant process control experience an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Operate as an integral member of a shift team within Campact.
  • Ensure that workplace, equipment, vehicles and machinery are maintained in a clean and tidy condition.
  • Undertake a comprehensive training programme to run every aspect of the processes of the Campact plant and operate plant machinery.
  • Attend further training courses as required.
  • Be aware of raw material stock levels and complete shift reports detailing usages with a detailed handover.
  • Observe and comply with Health and Safety procedures and ensure safety equipment is in order and used at all times.
  • Ensure safe operation and report incidents/accidents and hazards.

Your Tasks
  • Operate as an integral member of a shift team within Campact.
  • Ensure that the work place, equipment, vehicles and machinery are maintained in a clean and tidy condition.
  • Undertake a comprehensive training programme to be able to run every aspect of the processes of the Campact plant and operate plant machinery as per laid down operating procedures.
  • Attend any further training courses as required.
  • To be aware of all raw material stock levels, and to complete shift reports detailing usages, to include a detailed shift hand over with any specific data required relevant to shift.
  • Observe and comply with all safety precautions as detailed in the Health and Safety procedures and to ensure that safety equipment is in good order and used at all times.
  • Ensure that the operation and related tasks are conducted in a safe working manner and that any incidents/ accidents and hazards are duly reported.
  • Observe and comply with the Company Quality Systems as detailed in the Quality Manual.
  • Liaise with the shift leader and/ or relevant engineering department as to the condition of the equipment or production problems.
  • When required, provide support for holiday/ sickness/ training/ maintenance cover, to help maximise production output and efficiency.
  • Make recommendations to line manager to continuously improve the processes, standard operating procedures and work instructions and associated forms to better achieve the prescribed outputs and support the implementation of continuous improvement activities.

  • Ability to safely operate, monitor, and troubleshoot plant machinery while maintaining accurate production data and awareness of raw material usage.
  • Effective team player who communicates clearly across shifts and collaborates with colleagues, supervisors, and engineering teams to maintain smooth operations.
  • Able to work 12 hour shifts days/nights.
